Romi was sitting near the window…. Today was her Tia Di’s wedding with the Shivaay Singh Oberoi…. Her Di was so excited for this wedding…. The smile on her Di’s face flashed in front of her face…. Tears flowed from her eyes…. Her Di was everything to her…. She meant the world to her…. From childhood she had spent all her time with her Di…. Her Dad’s sudden death had left the family devastated…. She was too small to understand that pain but she knew her mother and sister had suffered a lot…. Her mother had worked day and night to keep the family going and made Kapoors a well-known name…. Her Di was her family, her support and her lifeline throughout her life…. She could not imagine a life without her…. And now she was going to live her entire life without her Di…. When she had seen her sister lying lifeless in the pool of her own blood, Romi had felt her own life being sucked out…. She could not come in terms with the truth…. That her sister was not with her anymore…. A void had been created in her life and no matter what happened, this void could never be filled….

She was lost in her thoughts when the door opened and her mother entered the room…. Her mother looked unaffected by her sister’s death…. There were no traces of grief on her face…. No signs of any tears…. She had only mourned for her daughter’s death in front of the Oberois to seek their sympathy…. Her mother never expressed any love or care for them…. Throughout their lives she had used them for her own benefits…. Tia’s marriage with Shivaay was a deal for her mother…. She had put her daughter for trade…. After the wedding they were going to sign a deal…. A deal that would bring them huge profit…. But her Di’s sudden death had failed all her plans…. She wasn’t sad at losing her daughter but sad at losing the deal…. The money that they could have got was now all lost…. Her mother had said what not about Tia…. She had called her useless, not worthy and what not…. She felt immense rage when her mother had uttered those words…. When she raised her voice and stopped her mother…. All she got was a tight slap on her face and words that pierced her heart….

Mrs. Kapoor: For how long are you going to sit like this?

Romi: Mom, I miss Di. Why are you saying like this?

Mrs. Kapoor: That Tia has already proved that she is good for nothing and now you too are following the same path. Just leave all this mourning and help me in finding a new way to trap these Oberois. I cannot lose this deal and that money.

Romi: Mom, how can you talk like this, it has hardly been a day since Di’s death and all you care for is money and that deal.

Mrs. Kapoor: Shut up Romi, I don’t believe that being my daughters you both have no brains at all. That Tia was already a failure and now you too are the same. God knows how I got you both.

Romi: Mom….

Mrs. Kapoor: Don’t make me angrier with your nonsense talks. I already have given you too much freedom but now no more, you’ll do as I tell you, and we have to convince the Oberois not to back out from the deal.

Not waiting for Romi’s response she started thinking of ways to keep the deal still intact…. She had worked hard to convince the Oberois for the alliance as well as the deal…. With Tia’s death the alliance had no meaning left but the deal had to be kept going…. If this deal failed they would have to face huge loses…. They had already put in a lot of money for this wedding that had served nothing in return…. She couldn’t let even a penny get wasted now…. She had worked hard to make Tia an Oberoi bride but now all her efforts had gone in vain…. She had thought her daughter would become Shivaay Singh Oberoi’s wife and rule the Oberoi empire…. But Tia’s death had turned everything around and now that could not be achieved…. However she could still work hard to keep the deal intact….

Shivaay was sitting in the meeting room…. His attention was not on the presentation that was being presented but on Anika’s words…. “You have to trust me Shivaay, only then we can get through this”…. Her eyes were making him feel something, something he did not understand…. She was right that he had to trust her…. But how could he trust her…. He did not know her…. She was his friend’s sister for him…. How could he trust someone he did not know…. He closed his eyes and her eyes flashed in front of him…. Those hazel brown eyes were bringing some unknown feelings in him…. He could not let this happen…. She was his lawyer and working for him…. They were sharing a professional relationship and he had to keep it at that…. He could not let her wander in his personal matters…. He stood up from his seat and all looked at him surprised….

Tej: Shivaay, what has happened?

Shivaay: Bade Papa, I have an important work, I need to go.

Shakti: Shivaay….

Shivaay: Dad, I’ll talk to you both later, please handle this meeting for today.

Without waiting for anyone to say anything Shivaay left the room…. He took out his phone and dialed Ranbir’s number….
“We have to go somewhere, wait for me near my car. It is urgent.”

Shivaay walked towards the parking lot…. He reached to the parking lot and gave a slight smile…. Ranbir was standing there already…. This is why Shivaay had made Ranbir his personal assistant…. The spark he had seen in Ranbir’s eyes, his confidence and his intelligence had made Shivaay respect him and trust him…. Ranbir also held immense respect for Shivaay…. He had joined Oberoi Industries only to be mentored by his role model Shivaay Singh Oberoi…. He had always dreamt of working with Shivaay and when he got this job…. He had decided he would never give Shivaay any chance to complain…. Ranbir had lived his words and Shivaay never had any complaints…. They both sat in the car and Ranbir started driving….

Ranbir: Bhai, is it necessary for you to go? I can handle it for you.

Bhai…. The word showed the bond they shared…. Whenever they were alone Ranbir would refer to Shivaay as Bhai…. Ranbir was the person Shivaay trusted the most after his brothers Omkara and Rudra…. Shivaay treated Ranbir just like Rudra…. Shivaay had given him full rights to call him Bhai even with people around them…. But Ranbir had clearly denied saying that he would use the reference only when it was something very important for them…. Something like their code word for important matters…. Shivaay had agreed…. So whenever Ranbir used the word Bhai, they knew that the matter was very sensitive and important….

Shivaay: I know you can handle it but this time I want to do it. Anyways you always get a chance to do it, this time I want to do it my way.

Ranbir: They are going to have a tough time then.

Shivaay: That is definitely going to happen.

They both shared a knowing look and Ranbir continued driving…. Ranbir had known Shivaay for years now and he knew when it is about family Shivaay doesn’t care about right or wrong…. Shivaay can do anything to save his family from all dangers…. This is why they called him the great wall of Shivaay Singh Oberoi…. No one dared to face that wall…. How did someone gather so much courage and murder Tia, that too a day before the wedding…. The question was revolving in Ranbir’s mind…. He had known all rivals and enemies of the Oberois and none of them would dare to do this…. Then who could do it…. They had to find out….

Romi was looking at her mother who was busy doing some work…. They had lost a family member and her mother did not care…. How could a mother be like this she thought…. Was she even their mother…. Romi was lost in her thoughts when there was a knock at the door…. Mrs. Kapoor signed her to open the door…. She quietly obeyed and opened the door…. She was surprised to see Shivaay and Ranbir…. Mrs. Kapoor saw them and invited them inside…. Shivaay walked in his regular attitude and sat in one of the chairs…. Ranbir followed him and stood beside Shivaay’s chair…. Romi stayed behind and stood at a distance…. Although Shivaay was going to marry her sister, they did not share any such relation…. She barely had any conversation with him…. Shivaay signed Mrs. Kapoor to take a seat and she obeyed…. Shivaay did not believe in beating around the bush and directly came to the point….

Shivaay: Now that Tia is dead, the alliance has no meaning left but the deal can still be kept intact if you want, I can at least do this much for Tia’s family.

Mrs. Kapoor was looking at him surprised…. This is what she wanted and here it was happening without her even doing anything…. Romi looked at Shivaay in disappointment…. She knew Shivaay did not have any feelings for her Di but at least he could have some humanity left in him…. His fiancé had died the previous day and here he was making deals with her mother…. He was a true businessman and only cared about money, status and family name…. No one cared for her sister…. Everyone was busy with their own selfish reasons….

Mrs. Kapoor: Shivaay….

Shivaay: I haven’t finished yet; the deal can be kept intact on a small condition.

Mrs. Kapoor: Condition?

Shivaay: You have to give me the proofs.

Mrs. Kapoor: What proofs, I do not understand what you are talking about?

Her face did not match with her words…. It clearly showed that she knew what he meant and what he was referring to…. There was a smirk on Shivaay’s face and his intense blue grey eyes showed flames that would burn everything down…. Mrs. Kapoor gulped down in some fear as she looked into his eyes…. She could not fool him anymore she understood this….

Shivaay: Do you think I am fool not to understand your true motives, you very well know what I am talking about, give me the damn proofs and I’ll convince Bade Papa to keep the deal with you.

Mrs. Kapoor: I’ll give you whatever you want, but the deal should not be cancelled.

Shivaay: Good and don’t you dare double cross me; I will be forced to do things that you would regret messing with me.

Shivaay did not wait for her to reply and got up from his place…. He walked out of the room and Ranbir followed him…. Mrs. Kapoor looked at him shocked…. How did he know about it…. None of them had known about it…. Romi was standing confused, she did not understand what they were talking about…. Proofs for what…. What was that her mother was hiding…. Was this the reason she wanted to deal with the Oberois…. Was this the reason she was getting Tia married to Shivaay…. What was this trade that had just happened…. Romi looked at her mother with questions in her mind…. Her mother did not spare her a glance and walked away….

CHAPTER 40

Lord Shiv’s Temple

Shivaay gets down from his car and looks at the temple. This is the temple where he and his family used to come. He starts to climb the stairs while his mind is recalling the footages which he watched just now. His heart is filled with guilt.

Shivaay: Shiv ji, I and my family have done wrong towards an innocent girl. I don’t know what we can do to rectify our deeds towards her. (Suddenly, he sees a girl almost collapsed. He holds her before she falls from the stairs. He sees her knees are bleeding and  her hand is holding a candle and plenty of diyas.) Are you ok??

Girl: (nods slightly) Thank you. (She is about to climb the stairs again.)

Shivaay: Take rest for a while. You are looking weak.

Girl: I need to complete this, sir. I can’t take rest.

Shivaay: There are a lot of steps you have to climb. At least have some water. I will bring it to you.

Girl: It’s ok, sir. I won’t take a drop of water till I complete my prayers. (She continues to climb the stairs with her knees and lights the diya with the candle. Shivaay just looks at her and continues to climb the stairs. The girl stumbles again. Shivaay holds her.)

Shivaay: See you are stumbling again. Just have some water first. Shiv ji won’t scold you. He doesn’t like his devotees to face any difficulties.

Girl: But I have to complete this or my prayers won’t be fulfilled.

He finished climbing the stairs on his knees and enters inside the temple on the same position towards the lord Shiv’s idol. The priest is surprised to see Shivaay there on his knees.)

Priest: Sir, aap….??

Girl: Pandit ji, I almost collapsed just now. This sir came and did the prayers on my behalf. Is that fine??

Priest: It’s fine, beti. (Looks at the idol.) Maybe, he wants the same too. That’s why he made him come for your rescue. (The girl smiles at Shivaay.)

Girl: Thank you, sir.

Shivaay: Don’t mention it. (The puja starts. Shivaay and the girl start to pray.)

CITY HOSPITAL

Neil’s Ward

RanGau are there too. Ranveer told them whatever Shivaay told him.

Neil: So surprising. Shivaay is the one who saved Ishu that night. The one who was one of the reasons for whatever happened to her last time is the one who saved her from those morons.

Ranveer: He is regretting a lot for his deeds. And he didn’t even blame Ishana even though Ishana is the one did Gauri’s accident. He is blaming those creeps only.

Gau: It’s not going to change anything, Ranveer.

Ranveer: Guys, don’t mistake me for saying this. Shivaay and Omkara are not that much bad as we are thinking.

Gau: Maybe I can accept Shivaay is not that much bad but that Omkara, he is the worst human being in this world.

Neil: Why don’t you go and ask him directly??

Gau: And for trying to molest her.

Ranveer: How if he didn’t get her pregnant and he didn’t try to molest her?? Will you accept him for Ishana?? (NeilGau look at each other. They don’t have an answer to his question.)

Neil: It depends on Ishu. We won’t take the decision for her. It’s her life. (Ranveer turns to leave.)

Gau: Wait a minute. (Ranveer looks at him.) Are you saying that he didn’t get Ishu pregnant and he didn’t try to molest Ishu??

Ranveer: I only can answer if Omkara answers this. One thing I can sure, his love for your Ishu is not less than your love towards her. (He leaves from there.)

Neil: Ranveer is hiding something. Why suddenly he is taking Omkara’s side??

Rudra’s Room

RuMyaPri are looking at the files which are given by Ranveer.

Rudra: A lot of files are here. How we can find the person who did the accident??

Soumya: First, we have to separate these files according to the cases. Maybe we can get any clue from that. (They started to separate the files.)

Prinku: Most of the cases they handled are narcotics. Some murder cases, robbery cases, smuggling and suicide.

Rudra: So confusing. (Ranveer comes that time.)

She rushed towards him.

Annika: What happened, Shivaay??

Shivaay: No, it’s nothing, Annika.

Annika: Nothing?? Why your knees are having bloodstain?? (He makes him sit on the bed and checks his knees.)

Shivaay: (winces) Ouch!!

Annika: What happened, Shivaay?? (Tears started to fill in her eyes.)

Shivaay: I felt so guilty for troubling Ishana last time. I went to Shiv temple if Shiv ji can show me a way to rectify my deed. One girl was climbing the stairs on her knees and lights the diyas on every step. That poor girl was fasting as well and she almost collapsed. So, I completed her prayers on behalf of her.

Annika: You mean you climbed the stairs on your knees?? (Shivaay nods. Annika looks at him shockingly.) I wished I can change the past but it cannot be changed. The damage is already done. How am I going to rectify our actions towards her?? We don’t even deserve forgiveness. (He burst into tears while saying this. The first time Annika is seeing Shivaay in a broken state. She just hugs him.)

Annika: At least now you understand that we were wrong towards her. Please don’t cry, Shivaay. I can’t see you like this. (Shivaay too hugs her back.)

Omkara’s Room

Ishana enters inside and sees Omkara is lying on the couch covering with the blanket.

Ishu: Sir, why are you lying there??

Om: I will sleep here tonight. You sleep on the bed.

Ishu: What happened, sir?? Are you alright?? (She walks towards him and sees him shivering badly.) Sir, why are you shivering like this??

Om: It’s nothing, Ishana. You just go and sleep.

Ishu: Sir, first you get up and come and sleep on the bed.

Om: It’s ok, Ishana.

Ishu: If you don’t sleep on the bed, I will sleep on the floor.

Om: Are you threatening me??

Ishu: Yes. Get up. (She helps Omkara to get up and she makes him lie on the bed. She touches his forehead and becomes shocked.) Sir, you are hot!! (Omkara looks at her weirdly.)

Om: Thank you.

Ishu: I mean you are having a fever.

Om: I know. That’s why I wanted to sleep on the couch.

Ishu: Have you taken the medicines??

Om: Yes. I just had.

Ishu: Wait a minute. (She goes to the washroom and brings some cold water. She takes a clean cloth and put it inside the water. She takes out the cloth and places it on his forehead. Then, she takes another wet cloth and wipes his hands and feet with it.) The fever will decrease, sir. You don’t worry and just sleep.

Om: You also sleep beside me. I can’t sleep without you. (Ishana agrees and lies beside him. Omkara dozed off after a while. Ishana gets up from the bed and looks at the time which is showing 9 p.m. She leaves to the washroom to take her shower. She comes out after a while and has a check on Omkara. She is surprised to see him shivering badly.)

Ishu: Why he is still shivering?? I have switched off the AC too. (Omkara pulls the blanket closer to himself. Ishana becomes worried and places her palm on his forehead.) Oh no!! The temperature is not getting down!! Sir!! (Omkara opens his eyes while his lips are quivering due to coldness. Ishana brings few more blankets from the cupboard and covers him but it’s no use. He is still shivering.)

Om: (quivers) Ishana, it’s ok. I will manage.

Ishu: Sir, you can get a fix if the temperature doesn’t decrease. (She rubs his hands and feet but his condition is still the same. She thinks of what to do and goes near him.) I am sorry, sir but I don’t have any other options than this right now. (Omkara looks at her confusingly. She removes the blankets from him and unbuttons his shirt. Omkara understands what she is going to do.)

Om: Ishana, don’t do anything that makes you uncomfortable.

Ishu: I can’t see you suffering like this. (She lies beside him and covers both of them with the blankets. Then, she lies on him and hugs him tightly by giving her body heat towards him. Omkara too hugs her back. Both of them sleep in that position.)

SidLana’s House

Avni’s Room

Swetlana is applying ointment on Avni’s knees while Avni is holding Mishti who is playing with her hair.

Swet: Is it painful?? Why did you do like that, Avni?? See how your knees are injured.

Avni: (hugs Mishti closer) This is nothing if compared to my Neil and Pooja’s condition. I heard that Lord Shiv’s temple is very powerful. If we prayed wholeheartedly and lights the diyas on every step by getting on our knees, he will fulfil our prayers. But I was almost collapsed because I was fasting. A man came and helped me by continuing the prayers. He gets on his knees and climbed the stairs while I light the diyas. I am very thankful to him.

Swet: That’s really sweet of him. Who is he??

Avni: He didn’t tell his name, bhabhi. He doesn’t want to use his identity for helping me. He told me just think your brother did that for you. (The room door is knocked. Swetlana adjusts Avni’s saree and opens the door. SidGau enter inside.)

Gau: Avni, are you ok?? (He sees the ointment on the table.) Siddharth bhaiya told me everything. What is the need for you to do that??

Swet: Gautham, it’s her prayers. Don’t say anything. She wanted to do it for NeilJa.

Gau: But what is the need for her to hurt herself??

Avni: No pain no gain, bhaiya. (Gautham pats her head.) Did Neil ask about me??

Gau: Obviously!! I said you went to the temple but he didn’t know about your prayers. (Avni nods.) Had your dinner?? (Avni nods again.) Ok. You take rest. Tomorrow, we will go and see Neil. Most probably Neil can be discharged tomorrow. (Gautham lifts Mishti from Avni and kisses her cheek. Mishti smiles feeling ticklish.)

Sid: That’s good. Swetlana, I think we should arrange a room downstairs. Neil is still not completely well yet and we have to take care of him carefully. It will be easy for us to attend him. (Swetlana nods.)

OBEROI MANSION

Omkara’s Room

Omkara opens his eyes and sees Ishana is sleeping peacefully on his chest. He feels better now. He recalls whatever happened just now and smiles to himself. He tries to look at her face but he couldn’t see it. He lifts her face slowly so that he can see it. Ishana snuggles more closer to him.

Om: It’s been a long time we didn’t sleep like this, Ishana. I missed this very much. What magic you have thrown on me, Ishana?? I wanted to hate you but you made me fall in love with you. You can’t see me suffering in cold. Do you know?? The first time you came here, I made you sleep on the floor without giving any pillow or blanket. But the next day you woke up with both of them. Have you ever thought about how the blanket and pillow came?? It was me, Ishana. I couldn’t sleep that night and I heard you were shivering and mumbling something. So I am the one put the pillow and covered you with the blanket.

Ishu: So you are the one give me the pillow and blanket?? (Omkara is surprised to see her awake.)

She tries to remove the chain from the button but in vain.) Wait!! Relax!! If you do like this, your chain might break. (Omkara removes the chain carefully.) It’s done.

Ishu: Thank you.

Om: You are welcome. (He looks at the time which shows 11 p.m.) Have you eaten your dinner?? (Ishana looks at him.) No, you must never have. You were here with me. Come with me. I will make something for you to eat.

Ishu: It’s ok, sir. I am not hungry. You supposed to take rest. (Omkara takes her hand and places it on his forehead.)

Om: Am I having any fever?? No, right.

Ishu: But your arm is injured. Have you forgotten about the gunshot last night?? You got a fever because of this wound.

Om: Ishana, it’s just a small injury. This doesn’t mean I have to take rest for the whole day.

Ishu: Are you feeling hungry??

Om: Don’t you feel hungry?? (Ishana shakes her head.) Even if you don’t feel hungry, just come with me to the kitchen. (Omkara takes Ishana from there.)

At the kitchen

Om: Oh-oh!! I think the food is finished ready. Let’s go out and see if we can get any snacks from the roadside stalls.

Om: I know you will, believe me, Ishana. That’s why I don’t want to tell you. If I tell you then the burden in my heart will become less. I don’t want that, Ishana.

Ishu: Sir, I am already in guilt for causing Gauri’s death. Don’t add another burden in my heart. (Her tears started to make their way out from her eyes. Omkara feels bad to see her tears.)

CHAPTER 11: I’ll help you

Soumya was sitting on the couch…. Rudra had brought her here and asked her to take a seat…. She was looking at him not knowing what was going on in his mind…. Why had he dragged her all the way through the corridors of the hotel…. He had been standing near the window since the last fifteen minutes and was showing no signs of initiating a conversation…. There was pin drop silence in the room…. Had he brought her here for this silence she wondered…. Only he knew what was going on in his mind…. She tried to talk a couple of times but seeing the serious expressions on his face she would back off…. She was waiting for him to say something…. He had said that he wanted to talk to her but here he had not said anything…. What did he want to talk about…. Finally having enough of her patience she thought to start the conversation….

Soumya: Sir….

Rudra: It is Rudra, we are the same age, do not call me sir, call me Rudra.

Soumya was looking at him surprised…. He was still looking outside from the window…. He did not see her reaction…. There was still a silence from her side so Rudra turned to look at her…. He could see the surprise in her eyes…. But he did not understand why she was surprised…. They were the same age and he did not like anyone calling him with anything other than Rudra…. “Sir” would definitely suit his Shivaay Bhaiya who wanted professionalism but him, for him it did not make much of a difference….. He is Rudra and preferred to be that only…. Finally making up his mind he took a deep breath and stood in front of her…. Soumya looked at him keenly…. His expressions were a blend of hesitation, worry, confusion and thoughtfulness…. She could not decipher the meanings of them…. What was making him like this was beyond her thinking…. She did not interfere and waited yet again for him to say something…. After a moment or two of self-thinking Rudra finally spoke….

Rudra: I need to talk to you. It is important.

This is what he had said earlier also…. Only if she could read his mind and understand the “important” part of it…. What was it that he was thinking so much before talking…. The Rudra she had known over the past days was not like this…. That Rudra was carefree and always smiling, making others smile with his antics…. This Rudra seemed different, he was worried and hesitating….

Soumya: What has happened Rudra, is there any problem with our work?

Rudra: No, no, there is no problem with the work…. Actually I heard Gauri Di’s and your conversation in the lawn sometime before.

Soumya looked at him surprised….

Soumya: You heard everything? I mean we just talked about clearing Gauri Di’s name and do not want the company to suffer; it is nothing related to your family.

She started explaining not wishing him to get any wrong ideas about their conversation…. She wanted him to understand that their intentions were nowhere near to harming his family reputation…. Well family reputation was something all Oberois were concerned about ever since Tia’s death…. And none had failed to notice this…. Maybe they all had their own reasons to worry about the family name but at the end of the day they all had concerns for it….

Rudra: I want to help you both.

Soumya looked at him shocked…. Did he just say this or did she hear something different…. Why will he help them….

Soumya: Why, why will you help us?

Rudra: That is not your concern. Just think that this is related to my family and I cannot let anyone do anything that harms my family. I’ll help you both so that we get the truth quickly. Already a lot had happened and I do not want anything else to happen.

Soumya: I have heard it right, you all Oberois only care about yourselves. Anyways if you really want to help us, you are welcomed. I’ll do anything to bring my Di’s name out of this mess.

Rudra: Okay then, I’ll help you both in clearing Gauri Di’s name and you both will keep my family out of all this. I do not want my family to know about this. This will be between the three of us.

Soumya: Okay, even we do not want to involve anyone else.

Rudra: You go now; we’ll start the work after you both are done with your works.

Soumya nodded and left the room…. Rudra was standing at the same place…. He replayed their conversation in his mind…. He was talking like Shivaay Bhaiya…. He was not like this…. He was always fun loving and carefree…. He was never rude to anyone and especially to a girl…. Then why did he talk to Soumya like that…. He did care about his family…. But when did he start caring like this…. Today for the first time he felt he was being like a typical Oberoi the world talked about…. He had to be like this…. He was doing it for his Bhaiya…. If Soumya was doing it for her Di, he would also do it for his Bhaiya….

Soumya was walking back to the lawn…. The conversation with Rudra was replaying in her mind…. All these days she had seen a different Rudra…. One who was sweet, kind and would joke around…. But today she had seen Rudra Singh Oberoi…. He was only going to help them to keep his family safe…. Soumya stopped suddenly not knowing why she cared about Rudra so much…. She was doing it for her Di, how did it matter what Rudra cared about…. If he wanted to help, let him do it…. What he cared about was not important…. She thought firmly and walked to the lawn…. Gauri saw her and took her to a side…. Gauri was concerned and thinking about Soumya…. The way Rudra had taken her away, she was worried…. She was already in a problem and she did not wish to drag Soumya into matters unnecessarily….

Gauri: Soumya, what has happened? Why did Rudra take you away? What did he say? Is everything okay?

Soumya: Di, will you keep asking questions or will you let me say something?

Gauri: Sorry, actually I was worried. You tell me what happened.

Soumya began narrating to her the conversation in Rudra’s room…. Gauri was shocked hearing the fact that Rudra was going to help them…. But then she understood he was doing it for his family…. He was doing to keep the Oberois away from the unwanted controversies…. She had learnt a lot about Rudra in the past few days…. He was a lot different from his family…. He was cheerful and fun loving…. He was far away from the definition of a typical Oberoi…. But then Gauri thought that how could he be any different…. When it came to his family, he would be an Oberoi only…. Just like his brother Shivaay Singh Oberoi…. But they were not completely wrong…. Anyone would do that for their family…. How anyone could let their family suffer…. Gauri brushed aside her thoughts and looked at Soumya….

Gauri: Whatever may be Rudra’s intentions to help us, we should take his help, and he’ll have many resources that may be helpful for us.

Soumya: You are right Di we should not get involved in other matters and focus on getting you out of this problem.

Gauri: Thank you Soumya I do not know how to tell you how much this help of yours mean to me.

Soumya: Not fair, first you let me call you Di and now you are thanking me. Sisters do not thank each other; they are there for each other selflessly. So, no thank you and no sorry, no formalities between us.

Gauri: Okay baba, you are behaving like a typical little sister.

Soumya: Sorry, wo….

Gauri: You only made a rule and forgot also, no sorry between us.

Gauri smiled at her and she smiled back…. Some relations do no need time to be made strong…. All they need is some caring and kind words….

Soumya: I think we should start the work from tomorrow.

Gauri: Yes, that would be great. We all are tired after the recent events. Let us take some time to settle everything and then start the investigation.

Anika was sitting in the cabin with Prachi…. They had got some information regarding Tia’s personal life…. But nothing in detail…. They were busy with their work when Anika’s phone beeped…. She checked her phone to read the message….

“I have mailed you the information you wanted. I have sent you everything, I could gather.”

Anika quickly typed a thank you and took her laptop…. She opened her mail account and opened the mail…. There were some documents…. Some old photographs…. She checked the photographs…. They were old photos, somewhat like fifteen to twenty years back…. She was surprised to see Oberois, Mrs. Kapoor and some other people in the photo…. She recognized a few as they were famous businessmen…. Prachi looked at her to ask something when she saw her immersed in her laptop….

Prachi: What are you checking that you have this surprised expression on your face?

Anika signed her to come and see the laptop…. Prachi was confused but followed her and sat beside her…. She looked at the photos…. Prachi too recognized some of them as they belonged to rich business families…. Anika then opened the documents folders…. They read the documents carefully…. They were shocked and looked at each other…. They were confused as well as surprised…. Anika now understood why Shivaay did not want her to get into this matter related to the Kapoors….

Prachi: So Kapoors do have enemies, and one of them are the….

Anika: Oberois.

Prachi: But that doesn’t mean that they are involved in Tia’s murder, Shivaay Sir was getting married to her, why would they kill her?

Anika: I don’t know about that, but we have to know more. One thing is clear, the relation between Oberois and Kapoors is not what it seems to be. We need to talk to Shivaay, only he can clear some facts.

Prachi: I still do not understand, why would he be getting married to an enemy’s daughter?

Anika: There can be various reasons, maybe he doesn’t know they are enemies, or maybe for some business related stuff or even for revenge. It can be anything and only the concerned people can give the answers.

Prachi: Then let us go and talk to them.

Anika: Yeah, let us go.

They both packed their stuff and walked out of the cabin…. Anika sat in the car with Prachi and they drove towards the hotel where everyone was staying….

CHAPTER 12: It still hurts

Ishana was walking inside the hotel…. She was busy checking something in her bag as she was walking ahead…. Abir had called her half an hour ago and told her to come to the hotel…. Abir and team were going to question the family and if she wanted some first-hand information she could come…. He had already asked Ranveer to allow Ishana to be present there…. Ranveer had also known her for quite a long time and knew her intentions very well so he had allowed her without much convincing…. She was so engrossed in searching her bag that she did not pay attention to the person coming from the other side…. Before she could realize that there was someone coming in her direction she bumped into the person in front of her…. The person held her hand preventing her from falling down…. She looked at the person shocked by the sudden collision…. They looked at each other…. Ishana smiled seeing him…. He also smiled back….

Abir: Madam, aaram se, itni bhi kya jaldi hai?

Ishana: What do I tell you, I thought I will get late and I don’t want to make that DCP of yours to look at me irritated?

Abir started laughing hearing Ishana talking about Ranveer while she made faces…. She was right Ranveer hated disturbances when he was working especially someone walking in late…. He was very particular with this rule of his…. Ishana lightly slapped Abir’s shoulder to stop him from laughing….

Ishana: Stop laughing and tell me that I am not late.

Abir: Well you are late but you are also lucky, Veer is busy on a call so he hasn’t actually started with the questioning, so you got saved from his anger and cold behavior.

Ishana: Thank God, I can face anything but not the cold behavior of your Veer.

Abir: I think you should go in before he finishes his call. They are in the banquet hall towards the left. I’ll come after a few minutes.

Ishana nodded and turned to go towards the direction Abir had instructed her…. She was about to go when she felt a hold on her hand and turned to look back…. The girl was standing at a distance and was looking at Abir…. Ishana was confused seeing the entire scene not understanding what to do…. She was about to say something to Abir but he looked at her….

Abir: Ishu, I’ll accompany you, I do not want to you to get lost in this hotel.

Ishana was finding it hard to understand why he was behaving like this…. She looked back at the girl and found her still looking at Abir…. There was definitely something between Abir and that girl…. But why was he behaving like this…. Ishana could feel something different with his behavior…. He was not the Abir she had known for so long…. But before she could understand the situation or ask him anything he dragged her with him…. She had no other option than to let him take her….

Mishti felt something piercing her heart…. She was coming back after finishing some formalities at the hotel reception when she saw Abir with some girl…. He looked at her and then held the girl’s hand…. The girl looked at him and then he told her something and walked away with her…. Seeing Abir with someone else was breaking everything inside her…. So Abir had moved on…. He had left her hand and held someone else’s hand…. She was no longer in his life, he had given her place to someone else…. Abir and his changed behavior were hurting her…. Tears collected in Mishti’s eyes but she controlled them…. She composed herself and brushed away all the unwanted thoughts…. She walked towards the hall where everyone was waiting….

Another pair of eyes had witnessed the entire scene…. Om had got a call and excused himself as Ranveer was also busy…. He had walked out from the hall and was walking towards the lawn when he saw Ishana coming inside…. He was talking on the phone but all his attention was on her…. She was not looking ahead and was walking…. He saw Abir coming towards her…. Om wanted to alert her but before he could do anything she had bumped into Abir…. He shook his head at the girl and her antics…. He could not hear their talks but seeing Abir laughing and she smiling at him, Om felt something in his heart…. He did not understand why he was affected by this…. He had learnt that they were friends and had known each other from a long time…. Then why was he getting affected by them…. Om was not paying any attention to the person on call and was only looking at Abir and Ishana…. When he saw Abir holding Ishana’s hand, Om felt something and did not want to see that…. He saw how Abir took her away…. Were they only friends or was there something more between them…. Om suddenly realized what he was thinking…. Why was he thinking all this…. It is their life, their choice…. He brushed away the other thoughts and got back to his call….

Abir and Ishana entered the hall and all eyes turned to them…. All were looking at them surprised especially Ranveer when he saw Abir holding Ishana’s hand…. Behind them Mishti also entered and Ranveer understood what Abir must have done…. Why was Abir doing all this, Ranveer thought…. Ishana saw everyone looking at them; she felt a little embarrassed and took her hand out of Abir’s hold…. Abir also felt a little awkward and walked to the other side and stood beside Ranveer…. Ranveer gave him an angry glare but Abir ignored him at the moment…. Mishti looked at Ishana with a sad look, Ishana did not understand her look…. Mishti also walked to the other side and stood a little away…. There was some minutes of silence…. Ishana looked around and saw a few new faces, she immediately recognized Anika and they passed a smile to each other…. No one was getting what to say….

Ranveer: Now that everyone is here, let us start with the questions.

All nodded and Ishana stood a little away from the door and took her pen and notepad…. Omkara who had been outside entered the room…. All looked at him…. He saw Ishana, she passed a small smile but he just looked away…. She was surprised at first but then thought that this was his attitude…. Om did not bother to look at anyone and took a seat with Shivaay and Rudra…. Ranveer did not like the late comer but ignored the fact…. He knew he had to have a lot of patience while dealing with the Oberois….

Abir: I think now no one is left, Veer let us start.

Ranveer: So, we have send Tia’s body for postmortem and the reports will come tomorrow, so we have to wait till then to get more clarity about the case.

Shivaay: If there is time for the reports to come, why have you called us here, tell us when the reports come.

The “Shivaay Singh Oberoi and his interference”…. Ranveer wanted to answer back but Abir signed him to keep calm…. Ranbir passed a knowing smile…. Anika was looking as if she knew that nothing could happen of him…. Oberois and Kapoors who knew him well were not at all bothered…. Om did not like Shivaay’s behavior but kept quiet…. Ishana wished that Ranveer shut Shivaay’s mouth…. Gauri and Soumya just looked at each other…. Mishti who did not understand why no one said anything and decided to speak herself….

Mishti: Mr. Oberoi, we are here for further investigation and we expect you to cooperate and let Ranveer Sir finish what he is saying.

Shivaay wanted to answer back to her but Rudra stopped him and Shivaay kept quiet…. Only his brothers were the ones whom he would listen to without much arguments….

Ranveer: Yes, Mr. Oberoi, let me complete what I am saying, you’ll also get a chance to speak. So, as I was saying, there is time for reports to come, we thought to get some other information from you all.

Tej: What information you want from us?

Abir: Some information related to Tia.

Ranveer: We need to know about her if we have to find the person who killed her, did she have any enmity with anyone or some business rival, do you have anyone in your minds, anyone you have any doubts about?

Romi: Di was not a person to have any enemies; she was always away from controversies, arguments or fights.

Janhvi: Romi is right; Tia was not a person to have enemies. She was always sweet and kind with everyone.

Mishti: But someone has killed her that means someone had some motive behind this, if not her, then maybe from Shivaay Sir or the Kapoors.

Ranveer: Mishti is right, maybe the killer had no direct enmity with Tia but maybe with Oberois or Kapoors, maybe he killed Tia to take revenge from you all.

Shivaay: I don’t think that it is a revenge plan; if it had to be for the Oberois, the killer would have attacked a member of our family, why kill Tia?

Anika: Shivaay is right, if the revenge was to be taken from Oberois, they would have attacked their family member. If Tia is killed, maybe it is to do with the Kapoors.

Shivaay looked at Anika in disbelief and anger…. He was trying to divert the attention from the families and she was increasing the doubt in Ranveer’s mind…. If even one person got the slightest doubt and tried to find any relation of Kapoors and their enemies, his family could get in trouble…. He could not let this happen…. Anika was noticing the changed expressions of Shivaay and she knew she had hit the right chord…. She knew she was taking a risk by throwing light on Kapoors but she had to do it…. She needed Shivaay to tell her everything…. She knew some things but only Shivaay could tell her the entire truth…. This was necessary for the case…. Shivaay could not hide facts from her….

Abir: You have a point Ms. Raichand; maybe it has to do with the Kapoors.

Mrs. Kapoor: I don’t think so; we do not have any enmity with anyone.

Ranveer: Do not be so sure, maybe you have made an enemy unknowingly.

Mishti: It is quite possible, many a times we do not understand the consequences of our actions, knowingly or unknowingly we do things that hurt others in ways we cannot even think about.

Mishti said all this while looking at Abir…. Abir did not look at her but even he understood that the words were not only meant for Mrs. Kapoor…. Ishana and Ranveer also understood this as they saw Mishti looking at Abir and him ignoring her….

Anika also turned to Shivaay hearing the Mishti’s words…. Shivaay could feel someone’s gaze on him and looked around to see Anika looking at him…. He felt something in him as he could see that she was also relating their situation to Mishti’s words…. He however did not find any relation and turned to look at his family…. Anika felt hurt and looked the other side…. All this was noticed by Ranbir and Prachi and they were confused and surprised….

Omkara is surprised listening to her.

Ishu: I believe you, sir. (She holds his face.) Why didn’t you tell this that day itself?? Why you kept quiet when you were accused that day?? Why?? (She cries.)

Om: What should I tell when my own siblings didn’t believe me??

Ishu: But your other family members believed you. Shivaay sir believed you. You could have told the truth, sir.

Om: Ishana, they believed me because they thought low about you. I don’t want them to blame you again. That’s why I kept quiet.

Ishu: I’m sorry, sir. At least, I should have realised that you will never do like that to me.

Om: No, Ishana. I know deep inside your heart, you believed me.

Ishu: How??

Om: You will never sleep beside me if you didn’t trust me, Ishana. No girl will dare to sleep beside the person who tried to molest her. That is the reason I asked you to sleep with me on the bed. Why didn’t you say that you won’t sleep with a molester??

Ishu: Don’t say that word, sir. You are not a molester. You won’t even think to do like that to anyone.

Om: Why are you believing me these much, Ishana?? My own siblings didn’t believe me. How could you??

Ishu: (cries) They believed what they saw with their eyes. They were worried about me. Don’t misunderstand them.

Om: No, I don’t misunderstand them. Whoever in their shoes might thought the same. I just wondered how did you believe me when I have tortured you a lot.

Ishu: I don’t know. Maybe, I was brought up by two men. That’s why I couldn’t think low about other men. (Omkara hugs her which she reciprocates.) These days you lived by taking a blame which you didn’t do.

Om: This pain is lesser than yours, Ishana.

Ishu: No, sir. Innocent people should not be tagged as a ‘molestor’.

Om: I deserve that, Ishana. I tagged my wife as ‘mistress’. You are my wife, Ishana. Always!! (He tightens the hug on her.)

Ishu: Sir, let’s go and tell everyone the truth. (Omkara breaks the hug.)

Om: Not now, Ishana. First, I want to clear your name. Then, we will tell about this. (Ishana hugs him making him startled as this is the first time she initiates a hug. Omkara kisses her forehead and hugs her back. They break the hug and turn to go but they see Ranveer standing there crossing his arms below his chest.)

Ishu: Ranveer, you are here??

Ranveer: I went to your room looking for you but both of you were not there. One of the worker told me that both of you gone out. That’s why I came here and saw you both.

Ishu: Ranveer, actually he didn’t…. (Omkara stops her by shaking his head.)

Ranveer: I know, Ishana. I heard both you just now. (Looks at Omkara.) It’s not safe for both of you to be here this late night. Let’s go back. Where is your car??

Om: We parked at the stall there.

Ranveer: Ok. I will drop you there. Come. (He gets inside his car followed by IshKara.)

OBEROI MANSION

Rudra’s Room

Soumya is still looking at the files while Priyanka already fall asleep. Rudra comes bringing tea.

Rudra: Soumya, keep the files first and drink this tea first.

Soumya: I am trying to find any clues to find the culprit but I couldn’t find any. (Rudra hands over her a cup of tea. Soumya takes a sip.) Hmmmm. It’s so tasty. Thanks, Rudra.

Rudra: It’s my pleasure. (Looks at Priyanka.) Prinku slept ready.

Soumya: Yes. She get pissed off as she couldn’t find any clues. So she slept.

Rudra: You also sleep, Soumya. We will try again in the morning.

Soumya: But I’m not sleepy, Rudra.

Rudra: Of course you won’t feel sleepy if you continuously looking at the files. (He pushes the files aside and sits beside her.) Our brain need some rest. It’s been some days we didn’t have a proper sleep. We need to take care of ourselves too. Then only we can take care of Ishana bhabhi. (Soumya smiles nodding her head.)

Soumya: How can you be childish and matured at the same time??

Rudra: Maybe because of you. (Soumya smiles shyly. They chat for a while and dozed off hugging each other. Ranveer comes that time and sees them sleeping.)

Ranveer: Finally, they slept. I thought they will continuously looking at the files to find the culprit. (He looks at RuMya and smiles.) Oh!! Love birds!! Priyanka was right about them. Not bad. (He sees Priyanka is sleeping at the edge of the bed. He goes and holds her before she could fall. He makes her to lie properly on the bed. Priyanka opens her eyes.)

Prinku: (sleepily) Ranveer, you are back!!?? Sorry, Ranveer. I fell asleep.

Ranveer: It’s ok. You sleep.

Prinku: You too sleep, Ranveer. You didn’t sleep properly since few days. (She pulls him making him to land beside her.)

Ranveer: (startles) Priyanka??

Prinku: Sleep, Ranveer. We have a lot of work tomorrow. (She hugs him. He chuckles and admires her cute face for a while. He too dozed off after a while.)

Next Morning

Omkara’s Room

Ishana wakes up from her sleep and sees Omkara is sleeping peacefully beside her. She recalls yesterday’s happening and goes near Omkara. She ruffles his hair and caresses his face gently. She leaves from there.

At the Kitchen

Ishana is boiling water on the stove. Shivaay comes that time. Ishana is startled to see him.

Shivaay: Are you going to make something?? (Ishana is surprised with him. She thought he will scold her for coming to the kitchen.)

Ishu: Yes. I want to make tea.

Shivaay: Black tea??

Ishu: No. Milk tea.

Shivaay: Ishana, you should boil the milk first.

Ishu: Oh!! (Shivaay takes a packet of milk from the refrigerator and gives to Ishana.) Thank you. (Shivaay starts to make breakfast when he sees Ishana cutting the packet by holding it wrongly. He immediately goes and holds the packet.)

Shivaay: Careful, Ishana. How are you cutting the packet?? You should hold that side, not here. You will drop the packet if you cut like this.

Ishu: Sorry, sir. I never had made any tea or coffee before this. (She looks at him in guilt.)

Shivaay: It’s ok. I will teach you. (He takes the packet and pours the milk in a pan. He teaches her how to make tea. Annika comes there.)

Annika: Arrey!! Both of you are here??

Ishu: (smiles) Good morning, Annika di.

Annika: Good morning, Ishana. What are you doing here??

Shivaay: Nothing. She wanted to make tea. So I taught her. (Looks at Ishana.) Put two spoon of sugar inside it and mix it. (Ishana nods and does as he said while Shivaay looks at Annika.)

Ishu: Done, sir. Thank you.

Shivaay: You are welcome. Have it.

Ishu: This is not for me, sir.

Shivaay: Then??

Ishu: For Omkara sir. (ShivIka look at each other shockingly.)

Shivaay: Ishana, no!! (She already left.) Oh no!! Omkara doesn’t like milk tea. I thought she was making for herself. (Annika looks at something and becomes shocked.)

Annika: Oh, no!! Shivaay, this is salt bottle. She mixed salt in the tea. (ShivIka look at each other don’t know what to do.)

Omkara’s Room

Omkara wakes up and sees Ishana is not beside him. He looks at the washroom and sees the door is open. Ishana comes that time.

Ishu: Good morning, sir!! (Omkara turns and sees her smiling at him. This is the first time he is seeing her smiling like this.)

Om: Good morning!! (Ishana walks towards him bringing tea.) Where did you go??

Ishu: I went to bring tea for you.

Om: Tea?? It’s a pleasant surprise!! (Ishana gives him the cup. Omkara looks at it.) Milk tea?? (Ishana nods.) Thank you. (Ishana smiles again. Omkara takes a sip. His expression changes.)

Ishu: What happened, sir?? Is it horrible?? Sorry, sir. This is first time I made tea.

Om: Did I say anything?? This tea is superb. But it’s just extra sweet like you. (He continues to drink and finishes it. He places the cup on the table. ShivIka came that time.) Shivaay?? Bhabhi?? What happened??

Annika: Woh…. (She sees the empty cup.) You finished it??

Om: Yes.

Shivaay: How was it??

Om: Tasty. (ShivIka look at him in disbelief.)

Ishu: What happened?? Why both of you are reacting like this??

Shivaay: Nothing, Ishana. We were simply reacting. See you guys later. Annika, let’s go. (ShivIka leave from there.)

Ishu: Why they are shocked??

Om: Because I don’t drink milk tea.

Ishu: Oh!! You don’t like milk tea?? Sorry, sir. I don’t know about that. Why did you drink if you don’t like it??

Om: Ishana, I won’t say no to you. I will have whatever you give me even though it’s a poison.

Ishu: Sir, please don’t be too filmy. (Omkara chuckles.) Sir, you stay here for a while. I want to go and see RuMyaPri. (Omkara nods.)

Om: Ishana, I wanted to ask you yesterday itself. Where is Mishti?? It’s been two days I didn’t see her. Is she still with SouPri??

Ishu: No, sir. I gave her to Avni as she was dejected thinking about Neil and Pooja.

Om: Oh!! (Ishana turns to go when she remembers something. She looks at him.) What??

Ishu: Sir, why did you say that Mishti is your baby??

Om: Correct it, Ishana. Mishti is our baby. (Ishana nods and leaves from there in a confused state.)

Ishu: (while walking) Why he is saying that Mishti is his baby?? He knows well that Mishti is not his baby. Then, why he is agreeing that Mishti is his baby?? He always take the blame on himself when it comes about myself?? (She goes to Priyanka’s room and sees Priyanka not there. Then, she goes to Soumya’s room but she couldn’t find SouPri there too.) Where SouPri went in this early morning?? I will tell Rudra.

Rudra’s Room

Ishana enters the room and surprised to see RuMya and PriVeer are sleeping hugging each other.

Ishu: These four love birds are sleeping hugging each other. So cute. Ishu, don’t disturb them. (She goes and adjusts the blanket on them. She adjusts the curtain so that the sun rays won’t disturb their sleep. She leaves after that.)

Omkara’s Room

Ishana comes there while Omkara is getting ready.

Ishu: Sir, are you going somewhere??

Om: Yes. I need to go to the art gallery. I need to pack some paintings there as the client will come and collect them.

Ishu: Is your wound ok??

Om: It’s very much better than before. (Ishana nods.) Ishana, are you going to the hospital??

Ishu: Yes. I thought to go with Ranveer but he is still sleeping.

Om: Come. I will drop you at the hospital. (Ishana is about to refuse.) Why are you hesitating?? You said that you believe me. What happened now??

Ishu: Of course I believe you, sir. But my friends are at the hospital. I don’t know how they will react if they see you.

Om: I don’t mind. They are having the rights to scold me or hit me for whatever I have done to you. I am ready to face that. Don’t worry and let’s go. (He takes Ishana’s hand and leaves from there.)

Rudra’s Room

Priyanka wakes up when she hears a mobile ringing. She tries to move when she feels a grip on her back. She is surprised to see Ranveer beside her and both of them are hugging each other. She feels embarrassed seeing their sleeping state. She takes her hand from him slowly without disturbing his sleep.

Prinku: How did I sleep beside him?? Better I leave before he wakes up. (His mobile rings again.) His mobile is ringing again and again. Maybe some important call. (She takes the mobile and sees the caller ID.) Gautham bhaiya?? (She is about to answer the call when Ranveer wakes up.)

Ranveer: Priyanka, who is calling?? (He removes his hands from her.)

Prinku: Gautham bhaiya. He is calling for the second time. (She gives the mobile to him.)

Ranveer: Hello, Gautham!!?? Sorry, yaar. I was sleeping. Any problem??

Gau: No, yaar. I just wanted to ask if you can find anything from the files. Did Shivaay recognise anyone??

Ranveer: Where are you now??

Gau: I am on the way to the hospital.

Ranveer: Ok. You go there first. I will come and tell there. (Gautham agrees and they end their conversation.) I will get ready to go the hospital. (Ranveer looks at Priyanka. She just smiles and about to get down from the bed when she sees RuMya are sleeping in each other’s embrace on the couch. She smiles seeing them and leaves from there. Ranveer too leaves to his room.)

Ranveer is walking towards his room when he sees IshKara coming out from the room. He goes towards them.

Ranveer: Both of you are going somewhere??

Om: I am going to the art gallery and Ishana wants to go to the hospital. So I will drop her at the hospital and will go to the art gallery.

Ranveer: You won’t give a simple answer like ‘yes’ or ‘no’, right?? Always elaborating everything.

Om: You won’t satisfy with a ‘yes’ or ‘no’. You will ask another question next. That’s why I answered before you ask.

Ranveer: Really?? As you answered all of my questions??

Om: I have answered all of your questions, Ranveer. If you are not satisfied with the answers, then I can’t do anything.

Ishu: I don’t understand what both of you are talking about.

Ranveer: Nothing, Ishana. Ishana, can you go to the hospital later??

Ishu: Later?? Why?? I want to see Neil, and Pooja too!!

Ranveer: Actually, Avni having some prayers for NeilJa. She needs to do it for three days. She completed one yesterday and she was almost collapsed. Can you go and accompany her?? (Ishana becomes worried.)

Ishu: Yes, sure. I will go to the temple first.

Om: If you don’t mind I can drop her at the temple.

Ranveer: Won’t you be late for the art gallery??

Ishu: You said that you are having some orders, right?? You go first, sir. I will go with Ranveer later.

Om: Sure?? (Ishana nods.) Ok. Be careful. (He turns to go.)

Ranveer: Omkara!! You also be careful. (Omkara nods and leaves from there.) I will come in 10 minutes, Ishana. (He leaves to his room.)

Rudra’s Room

Soumya wakes up from her sleep and sees herself in Rudra’s embrace. She recalls their last night conversation and smiles to herself. She pats Rudra’s hand waking him up.

Soumya: Rudra, it’s morning already. Faster get up.

Rudra: Another five more minutes, Soumya.

Soumya: At least leave me, Rudra.

Rudra: (sleepily) Cannot. It’s nice to hold you like this.

Soumya: I’m not your wife, Rudra. Leave me, first.

Rudra: You are going to be my wife in future. Practice from now. (Soumya is surprised to hear him.)

Soumya: What?? (Rudra realised what he said and gets up in jerk.) What did you say??

Rudra: Nothing. I didn’t say anything. (He runs towards the washroom cursing himself. Soumya smiles excitingly biting her lips.)

At the temple

Ranveer drops Ishana at the temple.

Ranveer: Come to the hospital after finishing your prayers. I already arranged a car to pick up both of you. So don’t worry. (Hands over a piece of paper.) This is the car number. (Ishana nods taking the paper from him. Ranveer leaves after Ishana enters the temple.)

Art Gallery

Omkara finished packing the paintings when Ranveer comes there.

Om: You are here?? I thought that you are going to the hospital.

Ranveer: I am going to go to the hospital. But before that I need to do something.

Om: (confused) What??

Ranveer: Kidnap you.

Om: (shocked) What?? (Ranveer handcuffs Omkara and takes him from there.) Where are you taking me??

Ranveer: To meet Ishana’s fathers.

Om: What??

Ranveer: Stop asking what!! I wouldn’t do this if you have answered my questions. I asked Ishana to go to the temple because I want you to meet NeilGau first. You have to answer them.

Om: Answer what??

Ranveer: Why did you say that Mishti is your baby??

Om: What question is this?? The baby is Ishana’s. Obviously her baby is mine too.

Ranveer: Oh!! You are thinking that you are genius by answering like this, right?? Ishana’s baby doesn’t mean your baby. The baby can belongs to someone else too. Because Ishana didn’t stay with you almost one year.

Om: Shut up!!! Don’t you dare to say anything about Ishana!! I know about my Ishana!!

Ranveer: She is just your mistress!! Why are you caring about her!!??

Om: She is not my mistress but my wife!! You know about it, right!!??

Ranveer: Then, why the hell you gave that type of interview recently??

Om: No!! I didn’t say like that. They have edited it!! (Ranveer looks at him.) I didn’t say like that.

Ranveer: What did you tell them?? (Omkara leaves a huge breath.)

Om: I stopped to do paintings for some time. The media always called and ask for interview when I will continue my work. I didn’t agree to give interview to them. Suddenly, few days back, they called me that they wanted to interview me. I agreed as I made them to wait for long. They were asking normal questions and I answered normally. Then, one of the reporter suddenly asked about Ishana.

*Flashback*

Reporter: Where is your mistress, Mr Oberoi?? Has she left you??

Om: You came here to interview about me or her??

Reporter: We are media, Mr Oberoi. We can ask whatever we want.

Om: You are here because I allowed you to interview me. Don’t think that you can ask whatever you want and I will answer that. I don’t have any time to answer any of your stupid question.

Reporter: You can’t say like this, Mr Oberoi. You are the one told that she is your mistress. So you should answer us if we ask about her.

Om: Oh!! You don’t have to know more about her. One statement of mine last time is enough.

Reporter: We heard that she left you for another man. Is that true??

Reporter 2: Is she a gold digger?? (Omkara get pissed with the questions and bangs his table in anger.)

Om: She is a gold digger and she left me for another man?? Wow!! What a people are you?? You simply create a fake news for your trp ratings, right??

Reporter 3: We are not creating any fake news,  Mr Oberoi. We got a picture of her with another man. (They show him a picture where she is hugging a guy.)

Om: Is that wrong for a girl to hug a guy?? He can be her brother or her friend. Why are you making a propaganda with this picture?? Ok fine!! Let her be a gold digger or she left me for another man. So, what is your problem with that?? It’s her life, her choice!! Who are you to ask that?? (The reporters kept quiet.)

*Flashback Ends*

Om: This is what happened that day. Is that anything wrong in what I said?? I didn’t expect that they have edited it and made like I spoke bad about Ishana.

Ranveer: Do you know whom Ishana was hugging that day?? (Omkara shakes his head in negative.) It was Rudra. (Omkara looks at him shockingly.)

Om: They spoke bad about bhabhi and devar!! IshRu’s relationship is like a mother and son’s relationship. How these people can be so mean??

Ranveer: You didn’t watch the interview when they telecasted it??

Om: I won’t watch normally.

Ranveer: Fine. Why did you accept Mishti is your baby??

Om: You are back to the same question?? How many times I have to tell you?? Mishti is my baby.

Ranveer: Ishana told me that both of you didn’t share any type of physical relationship before. Then, how come Mishti is your baby??

Om: If the baby is not mine, she is not Ishana’s too.

Ranveer: Why?? She is just a mistress. It’s not necessary Mishti must be yours. Maybe, Ishana was someone else mistress too.

Om: Shut up!! Don’t you dare to say like that about her. She is my wife!!

Ranveer: If she is really your wife and not your mistress, tell me the truth!!

Om: What truth!!??

Ranveer: Did you get her pregnant last time?? (Omkara looks at him.) If Ishana is really your wife, tell me the truth.

Om: She is my wife!! (Omkara closes his eyes making the tears to fall from his eyes.) I didn’t get her pregnant!! (Ranveer sighs in relief and wipes his tears. CHAPTER 13: Friends forever

Ranveer, Abir and Mishti were busy questioning the family members one by one….

Ishana was writing down whatever she felt necessary for her story….

Prachi and Anika were also listening carefully to find anything useful for the case….

Gauri and Soumya were standing at a distance as Ranveer had already talked to them….

The constables were all busy recording statements of the families as and when they answered…. Nothing new had been found either about Tia or about the killer….

\Ranveer understood that he had to dig a lot to find the truth…. He asked Mishti to take the fingerprints of all the people present…. She obeyed his orders and with the help of the forensic people started her work…. The families did not like this but had no other option than to do this….

After about three hours of extensive questioning and gathering the needed information Ranveer excused himself and left with his team….

The families were also tired and left to their respective rooms….

Rudra went with Soumya and Gauri stating he had some important work….

Shivaay excused himself saying he had some office work and walked away with Ranbir…. Anika wanted to talk to him and along with Prachi followed him….

Ishana was also done with her work and decided to leave when she remembered about Abir…. She knew he would still be outside and decided to talk to him….

Om was in the lawn when he saw Ishana leaving…. He had to talk to her and followed her….

Shivaay was about to sit in his car when he felt a hand on his hand…. He turned to look who was it and was surprised to see Anika…. The last person he wanted to see today…. He so wished to avoid her and her questions…. He knew that Anika wanted to talk to him and he knew he would not be able to answer her questions…. Not unless he had got what he wanted from the Kapoors…. She was about to say something when Shivaay spoke….

Shivaay: Not today Anika, I am busy as I have some important office work. We’ll talk tomorrow.

Shivaay did not wait for Anika’s answer and sat inside the car…. He asked Ranbir to start driving and Ranbir quietly followed his order…. Anika was looking at his car as it drove away…. Prachi was shocked seeing the entire scene…. Why was Shivaay behaving like this…. They were here to help him and what was he doing…. Anika now felt anger rising in her seeing Shivaay’s behavior…. Whoever he was did not matter, this was not the way he was supposed to behave…. What did he think of himself…. She clenched her fist tightly trying to control her frustration…. Prachi understood Anika’s state of mind….

Prachi: Relax Anika, I know you are angry with his behavior but please relax. We’ll talk to him later; now let us go from here.

Anika: I’ll make sure that next time he doesn’t behave like this with anyone. I’ll make him keep that attitude of his in his pockets.

Prachi: Sure you do that but for now calm down and let us go.

After calming herself and understanding Prachi’s concern Anika agreed and they both walked towards their car…. The day was quiet tiring for them and they decided to go home and discuss about the case the next day….

Abir was going to sit in the jeep with Ranveer when he heard someone calling his name…. He turned to the direction of the voice and saw Ishana signaling him to stop….

Ishana: I really need to talk to you now.

He knew what she was going to talk about and he did not know what he was going to tell her…. He knew that he had done all that only to show Mishti that he had moved on but now explaining everything to Ishana, he did not know how she would react…. They had become really good friends and he did not want to ruin that because of his stupidity…. He knew that whatever he did was just so stupid…. Why did he have to show anything to Mishti…. Why did she still matter so much to him…. Abir’s thoughts had to take a break as Ishana clicked her fingers bringing him out of his world….

Abir: Ishu, I am busy right now, will talk to you later.

Ishana: No, Mr. Rajvansh, I said I want to talk to you now and that means we will talk now.

Abir knew that he had no other option and just nodded his head…. He told Ranveer that he would come after sometime and Ranveer agreed knowing that Abir had many things to handle…. Ranveer just asked him not to do anything more stupid to which Abir assured him that he would handle everything properly this time…. Ranveer looked at both of them and left with the constable….

Mishti was also about to go when she saw Abir and Ishana together…. They were walking towards the lawn…. She wanted to talk to Abir and decided to follow them…. She gave some excuse to the team and asked them to go back as she would join them later….

Om also saw Abir and Ishana walking towards the lawn and followed them….

Abir and Ishana reached the lawn…. Ishana looked at him while Abir looked here and there to avoid any eye-contact with her…. She felt irritated with his behavior and decided to speak herself….

Ishana: What were you trying to do earlier?

Abir: What did I do, I do not understand what you are talking about.

Ishana: Don’t you dare try these tricks with me; you very well know what I am talking about Mr. Rajvansh.

Abir could clearly see that she was irritated by this trick of his…. She was looking at him and he did not know what to tell her…. Also she not calling him Abir only showed that she was in a serious mood and would not entertain his stupidity…. He took a deep breath and looked at her…. She was waiting for him to say something…. He held her shoulders and she looked at him confused….

Abir: Ishu, I’ll tell you everything just do not get mad at me. I did not do anything intentionally, it just happened in the moment.

Ishana did not understand what he was trying to say but decided to keep quiet and listen to him…. There was few minutes of silence…. He signed her to sit on the bench nearby and they got seated…. Abir then started narrating his story…. He told about Mishti…. Their college life, their love, their differences, their break-up…. She joining his investigation team the day before…. How he saw her looking at them and then to hurt her he had done the stupid stunt few hours ago…. He apologized to Ishana for the incident…. He kept quiet after finishing everything…. He did not look up as he was feeling awkward to face Ishana…. There was no reaction from her for a few minutes…. She saw him fidgeting with his watch…. She placed her hand on his hand and he looked at her….

Ishana: I understand what you must be feeling after seeing her after many years and it is quiet natural that you behaved this way. But please next time warn me, I do not wish to be caught off guard.

Abir: So you are not angry or upset with me.

Ishana: I am upset but not for what you did but for the reason you did it. Whatever Mishti and you have, I would not talk about that but you should not do such things to hurt her. This is not the Abir I have known, and I definitely do not appreciate this change in you.

Abir: Ishu, I know I am not being myself but with Mishti coming back suddenly, I do not understand what I should do.

Ishana: I know that this is not easy to deal with but do not lose yourself just because you want to hurt her, in the process you will only end up hurting yourself more. And also always remember, we are friends forever, you can always talk to me.

Abir looked at her and she passed an understanding smile…. He too smiled back…. How and when had they become such good friends was a surprise to both of them…. After talking for some time more they decided to head back to their respective works…. They both had a lot to work upon…. They were walking back to the parking lot when Abir’s phone rang and he excused himself….

Ishana bid Abir a bye and started walking towards the exit…. She was walking when she noticed Om looking at her…. She was about to smile when she remembered his previous behavior and looked away continuing to walk…. She stopped when Om called her name…. She turned back and saw him coming towards her….

Omkara: Ishana, I wanted to talk to you.

Ishana: Why Mr. Oberoi, do you have any work from me?

Omkara understood from her reply that she was upset by his ignorance from before…. He himself did not understand why he had behaved that way…. He felt bad for upsetting her….

Omkara: I am sorry for earlier, I was just lost in my own thoughts that I did not pay attention to you.

Ishana looked at him surprised…. Why did she talk to him like that…. Why was she getting affected that he did not pay attention to her…. Why did he matter to her…. She was here for work…. Why did she even think about all this…. Why did he apologize to her…. Why was she upset with his behavior…. Why did she expect anything from him…. She did not know him then why was his ignorance affecting her…. Why did she feel something when he apologize…. All these questions were bothering her…. Seeing her lost somewhere Om snapped his fingers and she came out of her thoughts….

Omkara: Ishana, where are you lost, are you okay?

Ishana: Yeah, I am fine. And you need not apologize for anything.

Omkara: I should especially when I know that my behavior was not correct.

Ishana: So you apologize to strangers just like that.

Omkara: You are no stranger, you are….

Ishana looked at him surprised…. What was he going to say, she thought…. Om looked at her not knowing what he should say…. She was right, they were strangers to each other…. Why did he even say that incomplete sentence…. What should he say now…. He was confused…. He did not understand why he contradicted her….

Ishana: Acquaintance

Omkara: What?

Ishana: Isn’t this what you were going to say, right?

Omkara: Yeah, absolutely right. I’ll talk to you later, I have some work. Bye.

Without even waiting for her reply Om walked away…. She looked at him surprised…. What was wrong with him, both thought to themselves…. Why did he behave like this…. First he said he wanted to talk to her and now he walked away saying he had some important work…. She brushed away he thoughts and walked away…. This Omkara Singh Oberoi was definitely beyond her understanding….

CHAPTER 4: Anika Raichand

Lights were dim…. Daylight did enter the corridors but only through the windows that were built near the ceiling, but those windows were also at a higher height…. The corridors had very little light so she took her steps carefully…. This was not the first time that she was walking in the corridors of this police station…. This was not the first time that she was going to meet someone in here…. She had visited many suspects in the past years…. She had walked in these corridors many a times…. Being a lawyer, this was a part of her profession…. Visits to many different police stations, different prisons were a part of her routine…. But today she felt something different…. There was some nervousness, some fear, some anger, and a lot of irritation…. She did not want to meet this man…. She did not wish to fight this case…. It didn’t matter to her if he was innocent or not…. She let out a deep sigh…. Whatever she thought did not matter…. She had to meet this man…. She remembered how her dear Arjun Bhai had emotionally blackmailed her to take up this case…. She could never disappoint her Bhai; he meant the world to her…. She had handled many cases, many she won and some she lost…. But winning or losing was not the issue here…. The issue was that the man she was going to fight for belonged to a rich family…. And she in her entire career till now had never taken any high profile case that involved famous or celebrated people of the so called high society…. She knew that such people could hire any number of lawyers…. So she always tried to fight cases for the poor or the middle-class people…. But alas all that kept aside she had to fight for this man because he was her Bhai’s best friend from many years…. She had seen him on few occasions but today he was a murder suspect and her client…. She could not say a “NO” to her Bhai but of course her Bhai would definitely have to pay for all this….

Her thoughts came to a halt as the constable walking along with her informed that they had reached the room…. She thanked him and the constable walked away…. She looked at the door and took a deep breath…. She held the door handle and opened the door….
As she opened the door and stepped in, her eyes fell on the two men standing in front of her…. One had a confused look that she recognized as the man she had to fight for while the other was highly irritated, maybe because she came in without knocking thus interrupting his work…. She was about to apologize for entering like that when she turned to the third man in the room…. She wouldn’t have noticed him if he had not spoken at that moment….

Man 3: Who are you?

He was about to say something further but the other man cut him,

Man 2: How dare you enter the room without my permission, Ms. Anika Raichand?

His voice clearly showed that he had not at all liked Anika’s entry into the room…. He had recognized her…. Even though she did not take up high profile cases, she was still a well-known lawyer….

Man 1: Anika Raichand, are you Arjun’s sister?

Man 2: Ms. Raichand, important work is going on here, so it is better if you stand outside and wait for us.

Seeing the situation going to another tangent the third man interrupted….

Man 3: Relax Veer you continue with your questions to Shivaay, I’ll talk to Ms. Raichand….

Ranveer: Yeah that would be better, Abir take her away and make sure no one else disturbs me now.

Ranveer said the last words looking at Anika…. She wanted to protest but Abir assured her that he’ll handle and she quietly followed him…. While walking away she looked at Shivaay once…. She saw a frown maybe because she did not answer his question…. She tried reading his expressions but he was a master in hiding them…. His blank face did not give a slight clue of what was going on within him…. She looked away failing to understand him…. After Anika and Abir left, Ranveer again turned to the man in front of him….

Ranveer: I hope no one disturbs us now.

Shivaay: I wanted to talk to my lawyer, why did you send her away.

Shivaay’s voice had anger and frustration…. He did not wish to hide it at all…. He had been sitting in this room from the past two hours waiting for his lawyer so that he could get out of this place…. And when finally the lawyer had arrived, this arrogant and rude DCP Ranveer Singh Randhawa had just sent her out…. What did he think of himself…. He had already kept Shivaay waiting, asking the same questions again and again, and now he did not let him talk to his lawyer also….

Ranveer: Answer my questions and you are free to talk to whomever you want.

Ranveer’s voice reflected equal anger and frustration…. He had been with Shivaay for two hours and every time he had asked him something, he got the same answer…. “I will not answer unless I talk to my lawyer”…. He was not going to give up easily…. What if Shivaay was an Oberoi…. That did not matter to Ranveer…. For him Shivaay was a murder suspect and most probably he could be the murderer too…. This anger that Shivaay possessed could make him do things that were beyond thinking…. Not only him but the world had heard about Shivaay Singh Oberoi’s wrath…. He took a deep breath and looked at Shivaay….

Ranveer: Shivaay, answer my questions and you are free to go.

Shivaay thought for some time and then let out a sigh…. He had no other option…. Ranveer would not let him go…. But he was also Shivaay Singh Oberoi…. How could he give up…. But then he remembered his family…. How worried they would be…. His Mom and Dadi would be crying…. His Badi Maa, Bade Papa and Dad would be worried…. His sister would be afraid…. And his brothers, they would be trying hard to bring him out of this mess…. He could easily argue with this DCP…. But at this moment he had to keep his patience only for his family….

Shivaay: Ask whatever you have to, but after that I’ll talk to my lawyer.

Ranveer gave a slight smile marking his victory….

Ranveer: So, Mr. Shivaay Singh Oberoi, did you kill Ms. Tia Kapoor?

Ranveer did not beat around the bush and directly stated his question…. This was the sixth time Ranveer was asking the question…. Every time Shivaay gave him a look full of anger and frustration but this time he decided to answer it calmly….

Shivaay: I did not kill her; Tia was not only my fiancé but also my childhood friend. Why will I kill her, how does it benefit me?

Ranveer: I’ll ask questions here and you’ll answer. You do not have to cross question me.

Shivaay: If you ask all this irrelevant questions, I’ll have to cross question.

Ranveer was about to answer back but there was a knock at the door and Abir came in…. Ranveer did not like disturbances but Abir was an exception….

Abir: Veer, Commissioner Sir wants to meet us. We have to leave now, it is urgent.

Ranveer: You go and get ready, I’ll come in a minute.

Abir nodded and left the room…. Ranveer looked at Shivaay….

Ranveer: We are not done Shivaay. You may be free to go now but remember you are still a suspect and you cannot leave this city.

Saying so he left…. Ranveer knew that Shivaay would want to answer him back but he did not think it was important to wait and listen to Shivaay…. He had dealt with many such people and he very well knew all their thoughts and talks…. Shivaay was irked that he did not get his chance to answer back but he thought he would next time they meet….

Anika was waiting outside when she saw Ranveer leaving…. Ranveer saw her but ignored and walked out…. She was waiting for Shivaay to come out so that she could talk to him and understand the entire matter….

Shivaay walked out of the room in his attitude…. Whatever the situation was Shivaay did not let it affect him as an Oberoi…. He was the Shivaay Singh Oberoi and nothing could affect him…. He came out and took out his mobile…. He was about to dial Om’s number when his eyes fell on Anika…. She saw him and got up from her seat…. He walked to her and dialed Om’s number…. Om instantly received the call…. Anika waited for him to finish his call….

Shivaay: Om, I am coming back and tell everyone not to worry. I’ll talk to you all once I reach there. Take care.

Anika: Hello Mr. Oberoi, I am….

Shivaay: I know you are Anika Raichand, I heard it inside.

Anika: Oh yeah, I am your lawyer, I’ll handle this case.

Shivaay: Well you don’t have to handle this case. I’ll talk to Arjun and consult someone better.

Anika looked at him surprised…. But soon his words registered and she understood what he meant…. Someone better…. What did he mean…. He may be some Oberoi or anyone but he did not have the rights to insult her and question her capabilities….

Anika: Better, what do you mean and how dare you say that?

Shivaay: Please, Ms. Raichand already that DCP has wasted my time, now you don’t do that. I appreciate that you came here to help me but you are not needed.

Suhana hugs Kanchi emotionally. And breaks down. Kanchi cries as well. Laksh hugs Ragini while Shivaay hugs Anika.

Anahita breaks Suhana Kanchi’s hug and is about to hug her when Shivaay pushes her away and holds kanchi.

Shivaay – have you gone mad ? how dare you try till kill yourself..ek bar bhi nahi ocha agar tujhe kuch ho gaya toh hume kya hoga..

Laksh – dada ke saath baith ke boardgames kaun khelta..dadi ke college ke kisse kaun sunta?

CHAPTER 5: Raichands

Anika entered her house…. Her anger on Shivaay’s statement was still visible on her face…. Her eyes had immense anger and irritation that would burn that Shivaay Singh Oberoi’s pride and attitude…. How could he say that he would find someone better…. What did he know about her that he said it all to her…. She despite of not wanting to fight the case had made up her mind to fight for Shivaay owing that he was her Bhai’s best friend and what did he do…. Instead of being thankful he had dismissed her saying that she was not needed…. She had heard it right these Oberois had too much of a pride….

She walked into the living room and sat on the sofa…. Her parents who were busy discussing something saw her and were surprised that she returned so soon…. Usually she would take hours to return whenever she went to meet a client…. But looking at her they understood that something had happened that had upset their darling daughter….

Shekhar: Annie, you came early, you had gone to meet your client naa?

Anika: Don’t even ask about him, he is such an egoistic man I would never ever fight a case for him.

Sumitra: Whom did you meet, who made you so angry?

Anika: Shivaay Singh Oberoi….

Shekhar: Shivaay, I thought you had gone to meet a client. Why did you go and meet him?

Anika: I do not wish to talk about him. What does he think of himself that he dismissed as if I am his employee or something. He has too much of a pride and I’ll definitely break that pride one day.

Sumitra: Will you stop with these talks and tell us exactly what has happened?

Anika told them about Omkara’s call to Arjun…. About Tia’s murder…. Shivaay been taken for enquiry…. He needed a lawyer to look after the legal matters and solve the case…. Arjun was busy with some other important case so he had requested or say emotionally blackmailed her to take up the case as Shivaay is his best friend and he could not trust anyone else…. Unwillingly Anika had accepted to take up the case because she could never deny her Bhai…. And then she narrated whatever happened at the police station….

Anika: I went there to help him and that Shivaay Singh Oberoi told me that I was not needed. He insulted my abilities and walked out with his attitude.

Anika’s anger was clearly felt in her voice as she narrated everything to her Maa and Papa…. Shekhar and Sumitra exchanged some looks not understanding how to calm down their daughter’s anger…. She was right at her place…. But they knew Shivaay also, he had some pride but he would not dismiss someone especially his friend’s sister just like that…. Sumitra asked Shekhar to handle Anika while she would call Arjun…. They both know that only Arjun can make Anika understand and could also talk to Shivaay about his behavior…. Sumitra walked to the other side to call Arjun…. Shekhar stood and walked towards his daughter…. He kept his hand on her head and she looked at him…. He smiled and sat beside her…. He caressed her hair lightly….

Shekhar: Annie, calm down baccha. So much of anger is not good for you and also for others around you.

Anika: I know Dad and you know me, I do not get angry just like that but this Shivaay, he just said all that and I am angry for those words he said. How could he say all that? What does he know about me that he questioned in fact insulted my capabilities?

Shekhar: Annie, I know that whatever he said and the way he said are not correct but you should understand his situation too, his fiancé who was going to become his wife today is murdered, his family is in a mess and he doesn’t know you, maybe he meant he needs someone he knows better, that is why he called Arjun naa.

Anika listened to whatever her father said…. His words did make her think…. The situation is which Shivaay was; maybe anyone else at his place would have also said the same…. Tia was his would-be-wife and he loved her…. He was going to get married today…. A very important day in his life had been ruined and he had lost the most important person of his life…. What all he must be going through…. Then his family would also be in some danger after the murder…. He would have to handle the media also from publishing any fake news…. And yes he did not know her, how could he trust someone unknown to him for such an important matter…. All that he said must be the consequence of the problems he is facing…. But still somewhere she was still little upset with Shivaay…. He should have talked to her…. He should have given her a chance to understand everything and then she would have helped him…. He needs to keep his pride aside in such situations….

Anika: Papa, I understand what you are saying, you are right that I should have understood his situation also. But he also did not give me a chance to understand his situation and his problem. I would have given my best.

Shekhar: I know my daughter would have given her best but what can we do if Shivaay did not know this. He misses his opportunity to meet such an amazing lawyer, his lose.

Anika smiled a little at her father’s words…. Her Papa would never ever leave a chance to praise her…. Whatever topic they would talk about he would find some way or the other to praise her…. This would always bring a smile on her face…. She knew how much her Papa loved her…. Being the younger one always had an advantage for her over her Bhai and being the daughter just added to her privileges…. She was loved and pampered by both her father and brother…. Her Maa would always complain that they had spoiled her with their extra love, care and freedom….

Anika: You always find a way to praise me, hai naa.

Shekhar: Well what can I do my daughter is so amazing that I get reasons to praise her every day.

Shekhar and Anika started laughing…. Sumitra who had come hearing the laughs looked surprised at the father-daughter duo…. It was rare that Anika would calm down without Arjun pacifying her….

Sumitra: So all has cooled down here.

Anika: No, some anger is still been reserved for Bhai, he’ll have to pay for this.

Shekhar: Of course, he should also do some hard work.

“I do work hard Papa”

The three of them turned to the voice as Arjun walked in…. He was looking at his father giving a fake hurt look…. The trio smiled at his antics…. He was the elder one but would take his own chances to behave as the younger one….

Hi, everyone!! I am really sorry for not updating the story. I swear that this chapter is ready one week after I updated the last chapter but I couldn’t update it. As I told you before, I have lost my job and I was busy in applying for new jobs which I felt so important than updating my stories. I hope all of you can understand if any writers couldn’t update their stories or if they are not active, they must have a reason. They can be busy with their studies, exams, works or any personal reasons. And don’t expect them to tell the reason to you. Instead of asking them for the update, ask them is everything alright. That would be better. I lost two of my uncles one after another just in a month gap. Then, I lost my grandfather. Before I and my family could moved on from the loss, my beloved grandmother passed away two days back. How can I update the chapters when I am in this kind of situation?? My loyal readers know that I only will update the chapter if I am satisfied with the chapter and if I am in a happy mood. For the first time, I am updating a chapter with a heavy heart.

CHAPTER 38

CITY HOSPITAL

ShivIka are shocked hearing Omkara’s confession.

Shivaay: What are you saying, Om?? You love Ishana?? Are you serious, Om?? (Omkara doesn’t say anything.)

Annika: Do you really love her, Om?? Or this is another plan of you to take revenge on her?? (Omkara looks at her in shock.)

You don’t deserve her!! She deserves someone better than you. She is my sister!! My sister doesn’t deserve someone who has impregnated her without her knowledge!! But the scars are till there. It can’t be erased.

Om: You scare me, Ishana!! I was worried about you.

Ishu: I’m fine, sir. (She pushes him gently and looks at Annika. Annika goes towards her and hugs her which she reciprocates.)

Annika: (cries) I thought I have lost you.

Ishu: I’m fine, Annika di. Please don’t cry.

Annika: Why did you go to the mortuary?? And how did you get locked?? Do you know how much we have worried?? Luckily, I and Shivaay found you.

Ishu: No, di. I didn’t go there. Someone covered my mouth and dragged me towards the mortuary. Then, he locked me from outside. (ShivIka and Omkara are shocked to know this.)

Shivaay: Who did like that to you?? Did you see his face??

Ishu: No, sir. I didn’t see his face. But before he pushed me inside….

*Flashback*

Person: I won’t spare anyone of you!!! (Pushes her inside.)

Ishu: I don’t know what he meant by that.

Om: Whom he meant by that?? (All of them look at each other confusingly. The doctor enters inside.)

Doctor: (towards Omkara) Mr Oberoi, you can take your wife back. She is fine. (Ishana is surprised to hear ‘wife’ from the doctor.)

Om: Doctor, someone has locked her in the mortuary. How come the hospital management can be so careless?? What were the securities doing??

Doctor: What?? She was locked in the mortuary?? How is that possible?? There supposed to have two guards. I will check on this.

Shivaay: I want to see the hospital footages now.

Doctor: Sorry, Mr Oberoi. Our hospital rules don’t allow this. We only can show the footage to the cop or if you are having a police report.

Om: What?? Someone has locked my wife inside the mortuary and you are asking us to make a police complaint first. What if something happened to her?? Do you still want us to file a police complaint first?? (Shivaay calms him.)

Ishu: Sir, it’s ok. I am fine.

Om: But Ishana, we have to know who did like that to you.

Ranveer: (looks at Shivaay) I need to talk to you. Urgently!! (IshKara and Annika look at each other confusingly.)

Shivaay: About what?? (Ranveer is about to say something when they hear a gunshot.)

Om: Ishana!! (He pulls Ishana towards himself and turns pushing all of them. A bullet hits his right arm making all of them shock and panick with the happening. Ishana holds him and sees blood oozing out from his wound.)

Shivaay: (shouts) Om!! (He holds Omkara. Ranveer takes his gun and runs from there to chase the shooter. Ishana ties Omkara’s wound using her duppata.)

Om: Are you alright?? Nothing happened to you, right??

Ishu: Sir, you are the one injured!! But you are asking about me.

Om: (stammers in pain) I deserve this, Ishana. (ShivIka and Ishana help Omkara and take him inside the hospital.)

Omkara is treated at the emergency room.

Shivaay: What the hell is happening here?? Just now Ishana and now Omkara!!

Annika: Shivaay, calm down. Omkara will be fine. He was shot on his arm only.

Shivaay: I know he will be fine, Annika!! I’m wondering who is the person running behind us. (The doctor comes out from the emergency room.) Doctor, how is my brother??

Doctor: He is fine. Nothing to worry. We have removed the bullet. He will feel pain, so we have given him pain killer. Handle the wound carefully for few days.

Ishu: Can we go and see him??

Doctor: Yes, Mrs Oberoi. He is still conscious, so you can go and see him. (Three of them enter the ward.)

Shivaay: Om!! (Hugs Omkara.)

Om: Did you find the shooter??

Ishu: Ranveer has gone to chase him. (Ranveer came after a while.) Ranveer!! Did you manage to catch him??

Ranveer: I missed him, Ishana. (They sigh in disappointment.) Are you ok, Omkara?? (Omkara nods.) How do you know that someone is going to shoot??

Om: When we were talking just now, I saw red spot on the road. I ignored at first but the spot moves near us. I looked around and saw a man pointing a gun towards us. That’s why I pushed all of you and before I could move, the bullet hit me.

Ranveer: Can you remember the spot was on whom??

Om: No. I can’t sure. (The doctor enters the ward.)

Shivaay: Doctor, I want to see the CCTV footage.

Doctor: I’m sorry, Mr Oberoi. As I said before, you need to file a police complaint first. Then only we can allow you.

Ranveer: How if the police wants to see the footage??

Doctor: Police are allowed, sir. (Ranveer shows his ID.)

Shivaay: Are you a cop?? (Ranveer nods.) Doctor, now you don’t have a problem to show us the footage, right?? (The doctor nods.)

Doctor: Come with me, sir.

Om: I want to come also. I want to know who did like that to Ishana.

Ranveer: What?? What happened to Ishana?? (Annika tells him everything.) It’s getting very serious!! Let’s go. (Omkara is about to get up but he feels pain on his wound. Ranveer brings a wheel chair and make Omkara sits on it. All of them leave to the CCTV room.)

CCTV Room

They watch the footage. They see Ishana is filling water in a cup when a shadow passes behind her.

Ishu: I felt right. Someone passed behind me. (Then, they see someone wearing a hoodie covered her mouth with a cloth and drags her from there. They watch the second camera footage. They see Ishana pushed the man and escaped. She went towards a nurse seeking for a help. The man hides himself. Ishana ran from there towards the entrance. The man used different way and caught her again. He dragged her from there but stopped. Then, he dragged her using another different way. ShivKara entered inside the hospital that time.)

Shivaay: That means he realised we are coming. So he took her using different way.

Om: We can’t see his face. Who is he?? (They watch another CCTV footage which shows the corridor of the mortuary. He dragged Ishana there and said something to her. Then, he pushed her inside the mortuary and locked the door from outside.) Damn it!! If I got him in my hand, I won’t spare him!! (He winces in pain. Ishana calms him.)

Ranveer: Show us the footage at the parking lot. (The technician shows the footage. As Omkara said, they see a red spot on the ground which moved towards them. It moved too fast till they can’t identify whom it was targeted. Omkara pushed all of them and he got shot.)

Ranveer: It was well planned. That’s why the shooter aimed from the place where he can’t get caught. Doctor, does Omkara need to stay at the hospital??

Doctor: Not necessary. He needs to sleep as we already gave anesthetic to him. I’m surprised that he is still conscious now.

Ranveer: All of you go back first. I will stay here.

Shivaay: You said that you want to talk to me urgently.

Ranveer: We can talk tomorrow. Go back with them first. (Shivaay nods and they leave from there. Ranveer calls someone.)

OBEROI MANSION

ShivIka and IshKara reached there. Luckily, everyone is sleeping. After all, it’s 3 a.m. ShivIka went to their room after sending Omkara to his room.

Omkara’s Room

Ishana makes Omkara to lie properly and about to apply blanket on him but he stops her.

Ishu: What happened?? Do you need anything??

Om: Where will you sleep?? (Ishana looks at the floor.) If you want to sleep there, then I also will sleep there. (His eyes is feeling heavy but he controls himself.)

Ishu: Where do you want me to sleep?? (Omkara signals beside him.) Ok. I will sleep here. (Omkara smiles at her and falls asleep quickly. She covers him with the blanket and she too lies beside him. She hears him mumbling something.)

Om: Don’t leave me, Ishana!! I can’t live without you. I know I have tortured you a lot. But I was scared that I will lose to you. I tried myself to hate you but you made me to……. (Ishana is surprised and confused listening to him.) Misunderstood…. All…. Trust me…. I didn’t…..

Ishu: Sir, what are you saying?? (Omkara opens his eyes.)

Om: (sleepily) Trust me. Will you trust me??

Ishu: I will!!

Om: Promise??

Ishu: Promise!!

Om: I….. I….. (He dozed off.)

Ishu: What he was trying to say?? Why he wanted me to trust him?? (She lies and looks at him continuously. She doesn’t know when she falls asleep.)

Next morning

Omkara wakes up and sees Ishana is not beside him. He is about to get up but stops feeling a sharp pain on his arm and winces. Ishana just came out from the washroom and goes towards him.

Ishu: Wait!! I will help you. (She is about to hold him but she stops herself.) I know you don’t like me to touch you but I… (Omkara holds her hand and places it on his shoulder.)

Om: You don’t have to ask my permission, Ishana. You are having all the rights on me. (Ishana doesn’t say anything even though she is surprised. She helps him to get up and takes him to the washroom.) Thanks. I didn’t even tell you that I want to go to washroom but you understand.

Ishu: This is where people will go after waking up in the morning. (He smiles at her.) Call me if you need anything. I will be here only. (Omkara nods and closes the door.)

RuMyaPri barge into the room and hug Ishana.

Prinku: Bhabhi, are you alright??

Soumya: You didn’t even tell us.

Ishu: What happened?? Why are you reacting like this??

Rudra: Don’t pretend like you don’t know anything. Ranveer told us ready. Someone tried to harm you and locked you in the mortuary!! How dare is he??

Ishu: Rudra, relax!! I’m alright. Luckily, Annika di and your brother came and save me.

Prinku: Ranveer said that also.

Ishu: He said only that or…. (RuPri turn their faces away while Soumya just nods her head.) Your bhaiya has been shot.

Rudra: We knew it. Ranveer told us last night.

Ishu: But you didn’t even ask about his well being??

Rudra: He has been shot in his arm. What do we have to worry about it??

Ishu: Don’t pretend like you don’t care, Rudra. I know both of you well.

Prinku: We care, bhabhi. But we won’t show it to him. After all, we are not heartless monster like him.

Ishu: Last night, the shooter aimed who I don’t know but I was there. Maybe the same person who locked me in the mortuary has tried to shoot me. If I am the target, that means your brother has saved me. Luckily, the bullet hit his arm. It won’t take a second for it to hit his chest. (RuPri hearts jerk a bit hearing the last sentence.)

Rudra: So, do you want us to forgive him for whatever he did to you??

Ishu: I didn’t say like that. But show your care and concern towards him. The one who don’t have a family knows the value of a family. That’s the reason I am valuing my friends as my family. (RuPri feels emotional and hug her. Soumya smiles and wipes her tears. Omkara comes out from the washroom and sees RuMyaPri.)

Soumya: How are you feeling now, bhaiya??

Om: I’m good now, Soumya. Just a small injury on the right arm.

Prinku: Have you taken your medicine?? (Omkara is surprised to hear her.)

Om: Not yet. I will have it in a while. I need to change the bandage first. (He sits on the bed and tries to open the bandage. He feels hard to open it using one hand. Ishana is about to go and help him but Rudra stops her.)

Rudra: Let me help you. (Omkara is surprised to hear him. Rudra sits on the bed and changes the bandage for him.)

Om: Thanks. (Rudra just nods his head. Ishana smiles seeing them.)

Soumya: Bhaiya, let’s go and have breakfast together. (Omkara smiles and about to say something.)

Rudra: No, Soumya. (Omkara becomes disappointed.) He is not well. Let him have it here today. We will have together after he gets well. (Omkara smiles in surprise.) Besides that, we have to go to the hospital fast. Ranveer is alone there.

Ishu: I am coming with you. Please wait for a while.

Prinku: No, bhabhi. You are not coming now. Have your breakfast and your medicines. Then, you come with Annika bhabhi.

Soumya: It’s Annika di’s order. (RuPri nod their heads. They leave from there. ShivIka came after a while bringing two trays.)

Annika: Breakfast for both of you. We didn’t tell about Omkara to our elders. We told them that Omkara was busy with his paintings for the whole night and he is sleeping now.

Ishu: But why did you bring for me as well??

Annika: RuMyaPri are not here as well as Ranveer. You know right how they will react to you?? That’s why. (Ishana nods.)

Shivaay: Both of you eat first. Ranveer told me that he wanted to talk to me. I will go and meet him. If you want to come to the hospital, I already arranged a driver to take both of you there. Don’t go alone. (Ishana nods. ShivIka leave from there. Ishana serves Omkara and both of them had their breakfast silently. Ishana gets ready.)

Ishu: Sir, I want to go to the hospital. Can you manage here alone for some time??

Om: Ishana, this is just a small wound. I can manage. Don’t worry about me. You have to be careful. Don’t hesitate to call me if anything means. (Ishana nods her head and about to leave.) Wait!! (Ishana looks at him. He goes to the table and opens the drawer. He takes something from there and gives to her. She looks at it in surprise.)

Ishu: My mobile!!?? (She smiles happily.)

Om: Yes!! The screen was broken right?? I got it repaired yesterday. I wanted to give you yesterday itself but a lot of things happened and I couldn’t give it to you. (Ishana just smiles looking at her mobile.) This mobile is very precious to you, right?? (Ishana nods.) Your beautiful memories are safe inside your mobile. (Ishana hugs him suddenly making him startled.)

Ishu: Thank you!! Thank you so much!! (Looks at him.) This mobile is the first gift I got from them and I don’t want to change it at any cost. I always feel they are with me by looking at this mobile. So when it broke that day, I was so upset. I could feel that something was wrong. Now, when I saw this, I’m having the confidence that nothing will happen to them. Thank you, sir. Thank you so much. (She realised that she is hugging him.) I’m sorry. (She is about to break the hug but Omkara hugs her back.)

Om: Don’t say sorry for this. (He breaks the hug while Ishana is puzzled with his action. She leaves from there.)

CITY HOSPITAL

Neil’s Ward

Neil: Ranveer, is everything alright??

Ranveer: Yes. Why are you asking??

Neil: I feel like something is not good.

Ranveer: Are you missing your wife?? She will be here soon. Actually, Ishana asked SidLana to mix sleeping pills in their drinks as they didn’t sleep since the incident.

Neil: I have guessed. Ishu must have done like that. Actually, I wanted to tell the same too. My Ishu is brilliant!!

Ranveer: Yes, she is. After all she has been brought up by the most intelligent cops.

Neil: Arrey!! But most of our cases are solved by Ishu. Do you know that?? Her prediction for our cases won’t go wrong mostly.

Ranveer: Then, why she didn’t become a cop??

Neil: Her interest is in fashion designing. (AvGau came there with SidLana. Avni goes and hugs him.)

Avni: I’m sorry, Neil. I couldn’t come yesterday. I don’t know how I fall asleep. I woke up around 4 a.m this morning.

Gau: Right. Even I didn’t realise how I fell asleep. As I remember, I was getting ready to come here.

Neil: It’s ok, Avni, Gautham. Ishu and Annika stayed here. Then, Ranveer came.

Avni: How are you, Neil??

Neil: Good. You??

Avni: I was thinking about you only.

Neil: Where is Pooja??

Gautham: She is at home. She was vomiting just now. That’s why we asked her to stay there.

Neil: Oh!! Upcoming mother. She will be like that for few months. We need to take care of her carefully. (Gautham controls his emotions. Siddharth holds his hand and signs him that everything will be fine.) Thanks, Siddharth bhaiya, bhabhi. Ishu said that you came to see me yesterday and you asked Avni and PooGau to stay at your house. That’s really nice of you.

Sid: It’s our duty, Neil. Don’t thank us like a third person. (Neil smiles.)

Gau: Avni, you stay with Neil here. We will come in a while.

Avni: Why?? Where are you going??

Ranveer: Nowhere, yaar. We will be here only. We are leaving both of you alone here. Just have some romance. (Avni feels embarrassed and looks at Neil who is smiling teasingly. All of them leave from the room leaving AvNeil. Neil extends his hand to Avni which she accepts and sits closer to him.)

Neil: I love you, Avni.

Avni: I love you too, Neil. (Avni places her face on his chest and hugs him.) Get well soon, Neil. I want to love you.

Neil: Someone is so desperate, I think.

Avni: Yes. I am so desperate!! (She looks at him and captures his lips with her’s for a passionate kiss.)

Outside the ward

RuMyaPri reached the hospital and go to RanGauSidLana who are waiting at the corridor.

Rudra: Ranveer, why are you waiting here??

Ranveer: Avni is with Neil. We don’t want to disturb them.

Prinku: How about Pooja di??

Gau: She is still the same. No improvement.

Soumya: She will be fine, bhaiya. Don’t worry. (Ranveer sees Shivaay is coming there.)

Ranveer: I will be back in a while. (He leaves from there and takes Shivaay from there before anyone can see. Shivaay is stunned with Ranveer’s sudden act.)

Shivaay: What the hell!!?? Why are you doing like this?? You are the one said that you want to talk to me. That’s why I came here. Now, you are taking me away. What is your problem??

Ranveer: Ishana’s family and friends are there. I don’t want them to know.

Shivaay: What do you want to talk to me??

Ranveer: This is not the correct place for us to talk.

Shivaay: How about my office??

Ranveer: Sure. I will inform you before I come.

Shivaay: Is that matter really important??

Ranveer: Yes. A person’s innocence is hiding behind it. You are the only one can prove it. (Shivaay looks at him confusingly.) See you at your office, Shivaay. (Ranveer leaves towards his friends while Shivaay too leaves from there.)

Neil’s Ward

Neil is delighted to see RuMyaPri there.

Neil: Glad to see a lot of people here. Now, it’s doesn’t feel like a hospital. (They smile at him.) Where is Ishu??

Ishu: (just entered with Annika) I’m here. (AvNeilGau look at her happily. Ishana hugs AvGau and goes to Neil.) Are you feeling better now??

Neil: (hugs her) Yes, of course!! By seeing all of you here, I’m feeling perfectly fine.

Ishu: Yeah, right!! (Teasingly)

Neil: What is this, Ishu?? (Pointing towards her neck.) Some nail scratches are here. (Ishana recalls last night’s incident where she struggled to get out from the man’s clutch.)

Ishu: Maybe, I scratched hard while sleeping.

Neil: It doesn’t look like that. Hey, Gautham!! Come and see this. (Gautham goes and sees her neck. They tilt her neck a little.)

Gau: This is Ishu’s nail mark only. But…..

Ishu: Neil Gautham….

NeilGau: Shh!! (They continue checking the nail mark.)

Gau: This look like you have struggled with something or someone.

Annika: Yes!! Yesterday, her chain entangled with her hair. (Ishana sighs in relief.)

Ishu: Yes!! It was badly entangled. Both of us tried hard to remove it. Maybe, during that time I scratched it.

Neil: Oh!! Ok. (They leave Ishana. Ishana thanked Annika through her eyes.)

Avni: Next time, be careful, Ishu. (She looks at the neck.) Is that painful??

Ishu: No, Avni. I didn’t even realise till Neil told me.

Avni: You know well about them. They can identify even a tiny spot on yourself. (Ishana smiles at her. All of them chat for a while when the doctor enters inside the ward.)

Doctor: We need to take another scan for him. (They agree. The nurse takes him from there.)

Doctor’s Cabin

The doctor is looking at Neil’s report when AvGauIshRan enter inside.

Avni: Doctor, how is my husband?? Can we take him back??

Doctor: Your husband’s back is badly injured but luckily nothing happened to his backbone. (They sigh in relief.) That is why I took the scan again. But he won’t be able to move for some days. He can be discharged but you have to look at him carefully.

Gau: No problem, doctor. We will take care of him.

Ishu: But Gautham, what are we going to answer if he ask about Pooja??

Ranveer: Ishana is right. We manage to handle him because he is here.

Gau: You are right. I didn’t think about it. Already he is doubting me for not going closer to him. How much I can pretend?? (IshAv hug him.)

Avni: I’m sorry, bhaiya. I know how are you feeling.

Gau: It’s not like that, Avni. I don’t want Neil to worry about Pooja.

Doctor: That means your friend doesn’t aware of your wife’s condition??

Gau: No, doctor. We didn’t tell him. He loves her a lot and he definitely won’t be able to take it. (They look at each other. A nurse suddenly enters inside the cabin.)

Nurse: Doctor, Pooja Gautham’s pulse is getting lower. (The doctor leaves hurriedly. Others become worried.)

Gau: Pooja!! (They go out from the cabin and shocked to see Neil there.)

Neil is being taken back to his ward when a nurse comes out in hurry from the ICU and enters into a doctor’s cabin. He stops the nurse who is taking him when he sees his friends and wife are there. The nurse sentence has shocked him. IshAvGauRan are shocked to see Neil there.

Gau: Neil??

Neil: What happened to Pooja?? The nurse said that her pulse is getting down. What does that means?? Is Pooja here?? (RuMyaPri, SidLana and Annika come towards them.)

Avni: I’m sorry, Neil. That day I couldn’t protect Pooja. (She cries. Neil breaks into tears.)

Neil: Why didn’t you tell me about this?? How many times I have asked you?? But….

Gau: Neil, you are not well. How can we tell you??

Neil: That’s why you didn’t come near me, right??

Gau: Yes. I won’t be able to control my emotions if I come near you.

Neil: How is Pooja now??

Ishu: She has landed into coma.

Neil: (shocked) Coma?? My God!! She is pregnant!! (He almost cries.)

Gau: But the baby is fine!! She will be fine too, Neil. (He hugs Neil which he reciprocates.)

Neil: What, yaar!!?? I am the one supposed to console you but you are consoling me.

Gau: (breaks the hug) What to do, yaar?? I can’t see you fall apart. So, I have to be strong.

Neil: I want to see Pooja.

Nurse: Sorry, sir. Patients are not allowed to visit ICU. (They see the doctor coming out from the ICU.)

Gau: Doctor, how is my wife??

Doctor: Her pulse went down suddenly. Now, it has become normal. Nothing to worry about. This will happen sometimes as she is pregnant. (They sigh in relief.)

RuMya, PriVeer and Annika left from the hospital while Ishana stays at the hospital with AvGau. SidLana too left to their house.

In the car

Annika is confused when suddenly Ranveer asked her to come with them. Not only her even RuMyaPri are confused when Ranveer called them.

Rudra: Where are we going, Ranveer??

Ranveer: Last night, Mahi called me that she wanted to meet me. I went to her house and she showed me a footage.

Rudra: That hotel footage?? You mean that night’s one?? (Ranveer nods.) Did you find anything there??

Ranveer: Yes. That’s why I am going to clarify it. (Annika doesn’t understand what they are talking about.)

Prinku: What did you see, Ranveer??

Ranveer: That day we saw Ishana is pushed by two guys inside a car. After that, we don’t know what happened. Right?? (RuMyaPri nod.) Nothing wrong has happened as we feared. She has been saved. (They sigh in relief.)

Rudra: Thank God. I was worried thinking about the incident. Luckily, nothing wrong happened to her. (Ranveer smiles and looks at Annika who is confused with their conversation.)

Ranveer: Sorry, Annika. Our conversation is confusing you. You will understand it soon. That is the reason I asked you to follow us. (Annika just smiles without saying anything.)

Prinku: By the way, who saved her that night??

Ranveer: Your brother.

Soumya: Om bhaiya??

Rudra: Bur he was with Gauri bhabhi that night.

Ranveer: That person is none other than SHIVAAY SINGH OBEROI!!! (All of them are shocked.)

CHAPTER 6: Shadow of the past

Ranveer and Abir were waiting in the commissioner’s cabin…. They were thinking what might be the reason that they had been called when they were investigating such an important case….

Was this the doing of the Oberois to stop the investigation…. Or did they want some other officers to handle the case…. Such questions raised in Ranveer’s mind since he knew how the Oberois had done similar things earlier also…. If they did it this time again, he would not back out…. He will find the real culprit either way…. He would not let that Shivaay Singh Oberoi rule over his work….

Abir was in other thoughts…. He did not pay much attention to the Oberois and their doings because he knew Ranveer would already be paying the needed attention…. He was thinking about Ishana…. How did she reach the hotel soon after they had reached…. Who would be her sources that gave her the exact information at the correct time…. She definitely had some reliable sources…. And he would one day definitely find them….

They both were immersed in their respective thoughts when the door opened and they came out of their respective thoughts…. They got up from their seats and saluted the commissioner who smiled at them…. Behind him entered a girl…. Ranveer was confused seeing her while shock would have been an understatement for Abir…. The girl looked at Abir and smiled a little…. Ranveer now looked at Abir who was extremely shocked by her behavior…. The girl stood beside the commissioner and smiled at Ranveer….

Commissioner: Officers, meet her she is ACP Mishti Agarwal, she is joining our team from today and will be working on the case with both of you.

Ranveer: But Sir, we both are already working, I do not think we need another officer. There are many other cases that may require her.

Abir: Yes Sir, Ranveer Sir is right; she can handle the other cases.

Ranveer and the commissioner both looked at Abir in shock, he called Ranveer as Ranveer Sir and not as Veer…. This was a major shock while the girl who understood the reason for their shock smiled a little…. Abir looked at her so she wiped away her smile and composed herself….

Commissioner: I know that there are many other cases to handle and also that you both will handle this case properly but this is a very important case as it involves the Oberois and Kapoors, so I want Mishti to help you both. This case can bring out many truths and so I want my best officers to handle them, and hence I have decided that you three will work on this case together, this is my final order.

Ranveer and Abir had no other option and agreed to what the Commissioner said…. The three of them took his permission and walked out of the cabin…. Once they were at a distance from the cabin Abir held Mishti’s hand and took her to the other side…. Ranveer was surprised by Abir’s sudden change in the behavior…. But he decided not to interfere and walked towards his cabin….

Abir pinned Mishti to the wall…. She was surprised by his behavior…. She could see anger in his eyes…. This was not the Abir she had known for so many years…. Abir held her shoulders and pressed her more into the wall…. She was hurt and tears formed in their eyes…. Abir understood what he did and left her, he moved back and looked at the other side….

Abir: Why have you come here, what more do you want to do?

Mishti: I came here because Commissioner Sir asked me to join you both in the case. I did not come here for anything else.

Abir: Oh really, you think I’ll believe this stupid excuse of yours. I am warning you if you think that by doing all this you’ll come back in my life, then forget all that, you’ll never succeed in that.

Mishti: Abir, I have no such intention, I am here for work and I’ll concentrate on that only.

Abir: That would better for you, because if you don’t, I’ll have to make you leave.

Mishti: Why are you still angry, all that happened years ago and we both have suffered enough, why do you want to complicate things?

Abir: I am not complicating anything that is your habit.

Mishti: Oh really, that is why you dragged me here and asking all these irrelevant questions. Then let me also make things clear for you, I am here for work and you are just an officer who is working with me.

Mishti did not wait for Abir to answer back…. She wiped her tears and walked away from him…. Abir was angry and punched the wall which hurt his hand and it started bleeding…. He did not care and walked away….

Why does your past not let you live in peace in your present…. Why do you have to face the people you do not wish to see again…. Why do those memories come rushing back that you have buried deep inside your heart…. Why does it hurt every time you see them…. Why the tears you have kept locked in flow when they are near you…. Why do all the walls you have built around yourself break when they come back…. Abir and Mishti asked these questions to themselves…. Why couldn’t all the years of separation erase everything that existed between them….

Hatred….

Abir walked into the cabin and sat down on the chair…. Ranveer could sense that something was wrong with him…. He had never seen Abir getting angry like this…. Always he would be the angry young man while Abir was the happy-go-lucky guy who would light up the environment with his talks and jokes…. Seeing Abir like this was the last thing Ranveer could have imagined…. He had been observing Abir since Mishti had come and he very well understood that Mishti had a lot to do with Abir’s changed behavior….

Ranveer: Abir, are you okay?

Abir: Yeah Veer, I am fine. Leave all that, tell me what are we going to do further with the investigation.

Ranveer thought not to interfere in Abir’s matter now as he did not know anything about the problem…. He thought to divert Abir’s mind from Mishti to the case…. He was thinking when he heard a knock and Mishti entered…. He looked at her not knowing what to do…. He just asked her to come in and she quietly followed…. Abir ignored her and sat in his same position…. Mishti too did not want to bring unnecessary issues kept quiet and looked at Ranveer…. Ranveer looked at them and decided to talk about the case…. He briefed Mishti about the happenings till now…. She listened carefully….

Abir was looking at her…. She was not the carefree naïve girl whom he had met in college but had turned into a mature lady…. And for some reasons he did not like this changed version of hers…. He wished to see that same carefree Mishti whom he had seen in college, whom he had fallen in love with…. He hated this matured lady who had broken his heart for her dreams and aspirations…. He hated her a lot…. He pushed aside all his thoughts and concentrated on what Ranveer was saying…. But he could not and his gaze again travelled back to her….

Ranveer: So, we have to wait for the postmortem reports. Also we have to collect fingerprint samples from all the people related to the crime.

Mishti: Sir, till the reports come, we should gather the fingerprints and also any information from the hotel staff and the family members. It was an Oberoi wedding, obviously Mr. Oberoi would have had tight security arrangements, and still a murderer entered the premises and killed his fiancée, Ms. Kapoor.

Ranveer: You are right Mishti; we need to get answers from everyone there.

Mishti: So Sir, when do we start?

Ranveer: First we’ll check the CCTV footage we have received from the hotel, and maybe start with the enquiry tomorrow, anyways we’ll get the reports day after tomorrow so
we have time tomorrow.

Mishti: Okay Sir.

Abir: I’ll ask Shinde to bring the CCTV footage here.

Saying so Abir left the room…. Mishti looked at him going away while Ranveer could sense that Abir had gone himself just to be away from Mishti….

Ranveer: Mishti, I know I have no right to interfere in your personal matters but I would only say one thing, whatever it is you and Abir do not let it affect your work on the case. I am already seeing Abir getting distracted, I’ll talk to him but I am telling you not to let yourself get distracted. Whatever it is you both solve it outside the police station. Also I am sorry if I sound rude.

Mishti: I understand your point Sir and do not worry, I’ll not let my personal matters affect my professional work.

Shinde entered with the CCTV footage and Abir followed him…. Shinde played the footage and the three of them looked at the screen carefully…. Nothing seemed different or strange…. Tia entered the room…. After an hour Gauri came there…. And as Gauri had said she came out really soon and ran towards the dining area…. After few minutes the Oberois and Kapoors came with some hotel staff, Trisha and Soumya…. Gauri was standing outside…. Nothing different had happened…. They checked the footage once again but still nothing different could be observed….

Ranveer: We need to enquire them only, this footage is of no use. The killer would definitely not come from the front door.

Abir: We’ll have to get answers from them only now.

CHAPTER 7: We meet again

Ishana had talked to the hotel staff and the workers working for the wedding…. None of them could provide her any valuable information as they had not noticed anything different or doubtful…. There was no shout or sounds from Tia’s room…. No one had run away from the room nor had anyone seen anyone entering the room…. If Gauri had not gone to call Tia for the dinner none would have known about the murder early…. There was nothing unusual…. Ishana was walking through the corridor lost in her thoughts…. She had not got any vital information that was worth sharing with her readers…. She had to wait for Abir to give her any information that she could publish…. She was thinking about what to do when she heard a voice….

“Excuse me”

Ishana stopped hearing the voice and turned around to see Omkara standing there…. She was surprised seeing him…. Why did he stop her…. Will he also like his brother and father give her those threats of not writing anything against his family…. Will he also show her his pride and attitude of being an Oberoi…. Whatever it will be, she would also answer back just like she had done with his brother…. She was lost in her thoughts….

Seeing her not saying anything and being lost somewhere else Om snapped his fingers in front of her and she came out of her thoughts…. They looked at each other…. Before Om could say anything Ishana began with her talks….

Ishana: Look Mr. Omkara, I am doing what my job is, so if you think that I’ll get affected by your threats and all then that is not going to happen. I’ll do what is right, whether it is against or for your family.

Omkara looked at her surprised…. So she thought that he also like his father and brother would threaten her…. She had assumed herself that he would also show her his attitude of being an Oberoi…. Didn’t this girl think a lot…. Without hearing what he had to say, she had made up her mind to answer back…. He was thinking about her….

Now not seeing Omkara saying anything Ishana snapped her fingers and he looked at her….

Ishana: So….

Omkara: Will you let me speak or are you going to keep assuming things?

Ishana looked at him surprised and he continued with what he had to say….

Omkara: So, now that you have made up all your assumptions about me, I’ll only say one thing. I know this is your job to tell people the truth and make them aware and I am not going to interfere in your work. I just came to say that your job is very crucial and people believe whatever you tell them, so whatever you write about this case just make sure it is right and the truth. It doesn’t matter to me if it is against or for my family; it has to be the truth that is all that matters.

Om finished his talks and looked at Ishana…. She was looking at him surprised…. She had never expected that he would say this…. Wasn’t he an Oberoi too…. Then why did he not have that Oberoi attitude…. Why is he different…. Or was it all just a façade to make her not write certain things…. Was he just playing the good boy card…. She looked into his eyes and saw that whatever he said reflected in those eyes…. He was genuine in whatever he said…. But still she had some doubts that she would get cleared with time….

Ishana: Don’t worry Mr. Omkara, this is not the first time I’ll be writing about a murder case and I’ll definitely not publish anything until and unless I am hundred percent sure that it is true.

Omkara: Good then and please no need of Mr. Omkara, you can call me Om.

Ishana: Okay then, see you later Om.

Ishana and Omkara smiled at each other and then walked in their respective directions…. Ishana walked out of the hotel while Omkara walked back to his family….

Om reached the place where his family was sitting when he saw Shivaay entering…. Shivaay also saw him and passed his usual smile…. That indicated he would handle the matter…. Om was still worried, he knew Shivaay could handle the matter but he did not know the manner in which Shivaay would deal with this…. Many a times he had arguments with Shivaay on this topic…. He did not approve of the way Shivaay handled things…. But he could not do much to change Shivaay’s ways as Shivaay was just like his father Tej Singh Oberoi in many ways…. He did not hate Shivaay for this but he also did not appreciate some of his decisions….

They all settled in the lounge…. Prinku and Romi were sitting together, Prinku was consoling Romi…. Dadi was sitting with Janhvi…. Pinky consoled Mrs. Kapoor…. Shakti and Tej were discussing about something…. Gauri, Soumya and Trisha were standing at a distance not interfering in their personal discussions…. Rudra sat beside Shivaay and Om also went and sat near Shivaay….

Omkara: So, what are we going to do further?

Shivaay: First of all we need the best lawyer to handle the legal matters for us so that we can concentrate on the other issues.

Tej: But I heard that Arjun has arranged a lawyer for you, then why do you need another one?

Shivaay: He had sent his sister but I don’t think she can handle this case, so we need to find someone else.

Shakti: But I have heard Anika Raichand is a really good lawyer, and she is trustworthy, why look for someone else?

Omkara: Yeah, I agree with Chote Papa, we know Arjun very well, so his sister is the most trustworthy lawyer we can get who would genuinely help us rather than seeking her own profits.

Tej: Yes Shivaay, even I agree with them, we need a lawyer whom we can trust and I don’t think we’ll find anyone other than the Raichands.

Shivaay was thinking about what they had said…. They had a valid point…. He could not trust any outsider in this matter…. Arjun had been his best friend since years and he could trust him with his life also…. So his sister would also be trustworthy…. He should have talked to her earlier…. But now when he had dismissed her so rudely he would not go and request her to come back…. He was Shivaay Singh Oberoi and once he does something he does not regret it…. He will not ask her to come back and will find someone else….

“Shivaay”

The voice brought Shivaay out of his thoughts…. They all turned to the voice and saw Arjun standing there…. Beside Arjun stood Anika…. They all were surprised to see them…. Arjun walked towards Shivaay while Anika quietly followed him…. Arjun was well acquainted to the Oberoi family but Anika had only met them on a few occasions and did not know much about them…. She recognized some of them but others were unknown to her…. Arjun greeted everyone while Anika just passed a smile whenever anyone looked at her….
Her eyes then travelled to Shivaay who did not pay any attention to her as if she did not exist for him…. What is so wrong with this man…. He cannot see beyond his pride she thought…. She continued looking at him to gain some attention from him…. But why did she need his attention…. Why was she giving him so much of importance…. She quickly diverted her gaze from him and focused her attention on what her Bhai was saying….

Sensing her gaze away from him Shivaay gave her a slight glance…. Whatever caused her to come here did not matter; he would not ask her to take up the case…. He looked at her once again…. She did have a confidence as she stood there; she had an aura around her that reflected that she was a capable person…. She belonged to the family of reputed lawyers so she had it in her blood he thought…. Shivaay could never look beyond name, blood and lineage…. He brushed aside his thoughts and looked at Arjun….

Arjun: Shivaay, I know you want me to handle the case for you but I am really sorry yaar, I have another important case going on, so I think you should let Annie handle the case for you. Trust me, she will look after all the legal matters, you will not face any problem.

Shakti: I think Arjun is saying the correct thing, we should let Anika handle the case.

Anika: I know we all don’t know each other very well, so it may take some time for you all to trust me and I understand that very well, but you all can give me a chance to prove myself, I promise I’ll give my best to this case. I know that this is an important matter for all of you and you will need someone who’ll take care of it in the best possible way and I assure you all that I’ll do it. I’ll fight as if I am doing it for my own family. I can only assure you all with my words for now but I can also say that my work will assure you all completely. But of course the final decision will be yours Mr. Oberoi.

She said the last line looking at Shivaay…. Others were convinced by her words…. They felt they could trust her and her assurance did assure them…. Arjun looked at his sister with a proud smile…. He knew he would not have to do anything to convince the Oberois…. Anika was capable of that…. Now all were waiting for Shivaay to say something…. He felt everyone looking at him….

Shivaay: If Ms. Raichand has so much of confidence and assurance, then let us give her a chance.

What did he say he thought to himself…. Wasn’t this what he had thought he would not do…. Didn’t he say that he will not give her a chance and look for someone else…. Then why did he do the exact opposite of what he had thought…. Why did he say something different from what he had thought…. Shivaay just put a stop to his thoughts and looked back at Anika….

Anika: Thank you Mr. Oberoi and please you can call me Anika.

Shivaay: So you should also call me Shivaay then.

The Oberois looked at Shivaay in shock…. He allowed someone to call him by his name…. Wasn’t he the one who always preferred Mr. Oberoi…. Didn’t he always want to highlight his surname and not his name…. He would always want to be the Shivaay Singh Oberoi and did not like being Shivaay….

Anika smiled and forwarded her hand towards him…. He was not that bad after all…. Shivaay also brought on his famous businessman face and shook hands with her…. The touch did have an effect on them and they looked at each other…. His cold grey-blue orbs met her warm ones…. There was a slight pause in their lives when they looked at each other…. But soon Shivaay withdrew his hand and Anika also moved back….
Was this the beginning of something….

CHAPTER 39

Shivaay’s Office

Shivaay is surprised to see RuMyaPri and Annika with Ranveer.

Shivaay: I thought you wanted to meet me alone.

Ranveer: RuMyaPri are helping me with my mission. I think your wife deserves to know the truth as well.

Shivaay: What do you want to know, Ranveer??

Ranveer: Where were you when Gauri’s accident happened??

Shivaay: What do you mean by that?? Are you suspecting me??

Annika: Shivaay, he is asking you a question. Why are you answering him with questions?? Ranveer, he went for a meeting with his client.

Ranveer: Where was the meeting held??

Shivaay: At Hotel Blue Diamond. But why are you asking this??

Prinku: That was the hotel where bhabhi’s boss organised the party. (ShivIka look at each other confusingly.)

Shivaay: I don’t understand.

Ranveer: May I use your laptop?? (Shivaay nods. Ranveer connects his dongle to the laptop and plays a video. They watch the video. Ranveer paused it.) This is….

Shivaay: Me!!

Ranveer: Can you remember what has happened that night?? (Shivaay tries to recall about that night.)

*Flashback*

2 ½ years ago

Shivaay was walking towards the parking when he received a call from Annika.

Shivaay: Hey, Annika!!

Annika: Shivaay, what time you will come back??

Shivaay: Sorry, Annika. I just finished the meeting. Had your dinner??

Annika: Not yet. You come back first. We will have together.

Shivaay: Really?? Can you wait till then?? As I know you can’t stay hungry for a long time. You are such a foodie!!

Annika: Don’t forget that I kept fast for you during ‘Karwachauth’. So don’t underestimate me.

Shivaay: Ok, baba. I’m sorry. I will be back soon. (Annika smiles. Shivaay is about to end the call when he hears some noise. Annika too hears it.)

Annika: What noise is that, Shivaay??

Shivaay: I don’t know, Annika. (He tries to find from where the noise is coming. He walks towards the noise.) Hey!! Who is there?? (He hears a girl’s voice.)

Girl: Help!! Neil!! Gautham!! (Shivaay runs towards the voice and sees two guys are assaulting a girl. He couldn’t see their faces. They drag her and pushed her inside a car. One of the guys entered inside the car. Another guy is about to enter inside the car.)

Shivaay: (shouts and runs towards him) Hey!!! (The guy turned towards him.) What are you doing to her?? (The guy just stares at him.) Leave her!!

Guy: It’s none of your business. Just get lost from here. (Shivaay went to the car and opened the door. He saw another guy is unbuttoning his shirt. He clenches his fist in anger. He looks at the girl but he couldn’t see her face as her hair is covering her face. But he could understand that she is not in her sense.)

Girl: Leave me!! Neil!! Gautham!! Help!! Neil!! Gautham!! (Shivaay stares angrily at the guys. He pulled the guy from the car and pushed him till he fell down.)

Shivaay: You blo*dy womaniser!! (The guy who was standing tried to attack him but Shivaay punched him hard on his face. He found a rod beside a pillar. He took it and hits both of them till they ran away. Annika who is still on the line is worried thinking of what is happening.)

Annika: Shivaay!! Are you alright?? Is everything fine there??

Shivaay: Haan, Annika. I’m alright. Two guys tried to misbehave with a girl.

Annika: Is she fine??

Shivaay: I don’t know, Annika. She looks like inebriated. Maybe they made her like that. She is still inside the car and I’m going to see her. (He sees the girl coming out from the car unsteadily. She holds her head and goes towards the driver seat.) Hey, girl!! Stop!! (He runs towards the car but the girl drove the car away from there.) Damn it!!

Annika: What happened, Shivaay??

Shivaay: The girl drove the car and left from here. She is not steady, Annika. I hope nothing wrong will happen.

*FLASHBACK ENDS*

Shivaay finish narrating to them.

Shivaay: I tried to follow her but I missed the car. After that, I received a call from Omkara that Gauri has met with an accident. So, I forgot about this and rushed to the hospital.

Ranveer: Do you know who is the girl??

Shivaay: No. I couldn’t see her face.

Ranveer: She is none other than…

Annika: Ishana!! (Shivaay looks at her shockingly. RuMyaPriVeer nod their heads.) Now, I remember why I felt like I had heard ‘Neil Gautham’ before this.

Shivaay: Yeah. She mumbled these names that night. And Ishana too mumbled these names last night. So, that girl was Ishana?? (RuMyaPriVeer nod their heads.) So, that night, Ishana left from the hotel escaping from those guys. Then, she did Gauri’s accident.

Annika: Was she drunken?? You said she was inebriated.

Shivaay: She was inebriated but I can’t sure if she was drunken.

Ranveer: Watch this footage and tell us if she was drunk that night. (Ranveer plays the footage where Ishana’s office party going on. ShivIka watch the video carefully.)

Annika: She is having a juice only. Why she became unsteady??

Shivaay: Someone has mixed something in her drinks. (Annika is shocked.) That must be those guys work!!

Annika: But why Omkara said that she was drunken.

Shivaay: See there, Annika. A waiter had spilt the alcohol on her. Omkara must have smelt that on her and misunderstood that she had alcohol. (RuMyaPriVeer are surprised that Shivaay is having the same perspective as them.)

Annika: If she didn’t have alcohol, how come she was inebriated??

Shivaay: Alcohol is not the only thing that can make someone high. Her drinks have been spiked. She just took a few sips and she became unsteady. This is weird. Alcohol doesn’t react this fast. It will take time. They have done something else with her drinks.

Annika: Drugs??

Ranveer: Right. We are doubting the same too. (He plays another video where two guys gave money and a bottle to a waiter.)

Shivaay: If we find this waiter, we can know who did like that to her.

Ranveer: What do you want to do by knowing who did like that to her??

Shivaay: They are the real culprit for Gauri’s death.

Rudra: Really?? But Ishana bhabhi is the one did the accident.

Shivaay: She did the accident but because of whom?? If they didn’t spike her drinks, the accident must never occur. She didn’t even realise what she was doing. She just wanted to escape from these morons. How she can be responsible for Gauri’s death?? (AniRuMyaPriVeer smile in relief listening to him.) We did a mistake by blaming her. We have humiliated her badly. I addressed her as a murderer which she is not. (He said in guilt.) I supported Omkara for whatever he did to her. (Looks at Annika.) You were right, Annika. I supposed to advise him as an elder brother. He might have listened to me but I didn’t do that. I stood by him in everything he did. He married her forcibly, I supported him. He said that she is his mistress, again I supported him. It’s my mistake. I gave importance to my family but didn’t think that she also belongs to a family.

Annika: But Ishana accepted everything silently. Omkara’s hatred, our family’s ignorant, she just kept silent and continue to love RuMyaPri as her own.

Shivaay: Right. I thought she snatched them from us but RuMyaPri knows that we are wrong. I’m feeling ashamed of myself for being insensible. We don’t deserve forgiveness. Omkara’s deed can’t be forgiven. Poor girl. How much she has suffered. Forced marriage, mistress tag, got pregnant without her knowledge. Even that time also she defends Omkara that he never misbehaved with her. I must have realised when she refused to abort the baby. A girl who couldn’t kill an unborn, how she can kill another life?? I was so stupid at that time. (He sits on the chair feeling devastated.)

Prinku: It’s too late now. You can’t change the past. If you want to rectify your deed towards Ishana bhabhi, the least you can do is ask Omkara Singh Oberoi to reveal to the outside world that Ishana bhabhi is his wife, not his mistress.

Shivaay: I don’t have to tell him. He will tell himself as he has already fallen in love with her.

RuMyaPri: (shocked) What?? (Shivaay nods his head.)

Ranveer: Don’t be too shocked. There is more for us to know.

Rudra: I don’t believe he has fallen for Ishana bhabhi.

Ranveer: No, Rudra. You have to believe it. He already fell for her long time ago. I mean since she stayed at Oberoi Mansion.

Prinku: How is that possible?? He hates her!!

Ranveer: The hatred has turned into love. People use to tell don’t hate something or someone too much or you will end up loving it very much.

Soumya: But how the hatred turns to love??

Ranveer: Only Omkara can tell us about that.

Shivaay: But I won’t accept his love for her.

Rudra: We know that. Naam, khoon, khandan are very important to you right?? Ishana bhabhi doesn’t have any of it.

Shivaay: I didn’t mean that, Rudra. She deserves a better man and a better family. Our family don’t deserve her. We have made her suffer a lot. And Omkara’s deeds towards her are unforgivable. He has played with her motherhood. That is unforgivable!!

Prinku: Now you are telling it is wrong. You should have realised it when he did that to bhabhi.

Shivaay: What do you think, Prinku?? I didn’t realise it before this?? Never mind. Just think as you wish. (All of them look at each other confusingly.)

Rudra: Don’t forget that he didn’t play with her motherhood only but almost play with her virginity as well.

Shivaay: Don’t say that, Rudra. I still believe that Omkara didn’t do like that.

Prinku: I wish it is true but three of us saw it with our eyes.

Ranveer: Priyanka, whatever we see and heard can’t be true all the time. (RuMyaPri look at him shockingly.) Don’t look at me like that. I’m a cop and I have to think from every angle. Leave that. Shivaay, you saw them right?? Do you still remember their faces?? (Shivaay thinks for a while.) Can you identify them if you see them again??

Shivaay: I am not sure but maybe I can.

Ranveer: Ok. I already asked for the criminal lists handled by Neil and Gautham before this. I will show you the pictures after I got it. Just see if it’s either one of them. Maybe, they are the one who did Neil and Pooja’s accident too. (ShivIka look at him shockingly.)

Annika: What do you mean?? Neil and Pooja’s accident were done purposely?? (Ranveer nods and tells them whatever Neil told them.)

Shivaay: So they are cops too?? (They nod their heads.) What they were doing when Ishana suffered here??

Rudra: They were caught with a different case and they didn’t know whatever happened to bhabhi. They just got to know recently.

Shivaay: Ishana didn’t tell them??

Prinku: Bhabhi didn’t want to worry them. She has taken a promise from me to keep my lips sealed. But her mental condition was not good and made them doubt that something has happened during their absence.

Shivaay: What happened to her??

Rudra: She has fallen into depression. She won’t sleep properly and suddenly she will scream hysterically and ran from the house. (Shivaay feels bad for her.)

Ranveer: We are leaving now.

Rudra: Should we tell Gautham bhaiya about this??

Ranveer: We have to tell him although he is very much disturbed about Pooja. (PriVeer and RuMya leave from there with Annika.)

OBEROI MANSION

Omkara’s Room

Omkara is sitting on his bed when Jhanvi enters inside. Omkara composed himself.

Jhanvi: Om!! You are awake??

Om: Yeah. Just only, mom. Anything??

Jhanvi: Shivaay told that you were busy with the painting for the whole night and went sleep this morning only. That’s why I came to see you.

Om: Urgent delivery, mom. That’s why.

Jhanvi: Are you ok, Om?? You are looking so tired.

Om: I’m fine, mom. Don’t worry about me. (He smiles at her.)

Jhanvi: After a long time I am seeing you smiling. (Holds his cheek.) Just continue to smile like this. I missed this very much. (Omkara smiles again.) You didn’t smile after Gauri’s death. It’s because of that girl. She snatched your smile and happiness from you by causing Gauri’s death. (Omkara’s expression changed.)

Om: Mom, what does accident means??

Jhanvi: (confused) What??

Om: Just tell me, mom. What do you think an accident is??

Jhanvi: An incident which happened unexpectedly and….

Om: Unintentionally. (Jhanvi looks at him.) Correct!!?? (Jhanvi nods.) Mom, we accused Ishana for causing Gauri’s death. Yes, she caused Gauri’s death but it was done unintentionally.

Jhanvi: She was drunken, Om. You only said that. The accident occurred because of her carelessness.

Om: Fine, mom. She was drunk that night and caused the accident. But is that right for me to punish her?? Who am I to punish her?? Law is there to punish her.

Jhanvi: Why she didn’t surrender herself to the police?? She wanted to escape from the punishment.

Om: If she thought like that she should have left from this city, mom. Instead of that she came to meet me.

Jhanvi: Om, what happened to you suddenly?? You didn’t even like her but now you are taking her side.

Om: This has not happened suddenly, mom. I have realised it before but I didn’t show it.

Jhanvi: Om, are you….??

Om: Yes, mom. I am. I don’t know how and when. But I have.

Jhanvi: I don’t know what to say, Om.

Jhanvi: Take rest, Om. We will talk later. (She leaves from the room. Ishana came after a while. Omkara smiles at her.)

Ishu: How are you feeling now, sir??

Om: Better. (Ishana sits on the bed facing him.) Luckily, I am wearing a long sleeve. Mom came just now. (Ishana smiles and looks at his arm.)

Ishu: Sir, it’s bleeding. You need to change the bandage. (She goes and takes the ointment from the table. She tries to fold his sleeve but stops thinking that it might hit his wound.) Sir, I think you need to open your shirt. (Omkara nods and opens his shirt. She sees his bandage is fully wet with his blood. Ishana opens the bandage carefully without hurting him. She takes cotton and wipes the blood. He winces in pain.) Sorry!! (She blows it gently. Omkara smiles seeing her concern. She sees the wound is quite deep. Unaware of her, tears started to fill up in her eyes which noticed by Omkara.)

Om: What happened, Ishana??

Ishu: Nothing. Is it painful??

Om: Nope. I won’t feel any pain if you are with me. (Ishana keeps the cotton and takes the fresh bandage.)

Ishu: May I ask you something?? (Omkara nods.) Last night, you were mumbling something in your sleep.

Om: About what??

Ishu: You asked me to trust you. (She bandages the wound and looks at him.) About what do you want me to trust you??

Om: No…. Noth…. Nothing. Maybe, I dreamt about something. It’s nothing.

Ishu: No, sir. You were not dreaming. Your voice was having pain. Tell me, sir. What do you want me to trust you??

Om: What were your answer when I asked you like that??

Ishu: I said I will trust you. (He looks at her in surprise.)

Om: Really?? You will trust me??

Ishu: Yes. (He pulls her into a hug.)

Om: This one word of yours is enough for me. I don’t need anything else. (Ishana is surprised with his sudden act. She hears him sobbing.)

Ishu: Are you crying?? (He doesn’t answer but continues hugging her. Ishana caresses his back after hesitates a little. She breaks the hug after a while.)

Om: I was so wrong about you. I behaved with you badly, I humiliated you to the maximum. But you…. (Cries. He cups her face and looks into her eyes.) Ishana, I promise you now. I will clear all the bad names you got because of me soon. I will declare to this world that you are my wife!! (Ishana just looks at him doesn’t know how to react.) I promise you, Ishana. (He plants a deep kiss on her forehead surprising her again. He looks at her again.) It’s my promise. (She feels awkward after getting a sudden kiss from him. He realised her awkwardness. She helps him to wear his shirt properly.) I forgot to ask you, how are your friends??

Ishu: Doctor said Neil can be discharged but we need to take care of him carefully. Pooja is still in coma.

Om: Ishana, don’t you find it weird??

Ishu: What??

Om: Neil and Pooja’s accident?? How come both accidents can happen at the same time??

Ishu: I am thinking the same too, sir.

Om: Are you all having any enemies??

Ishu: What do you mean by that??

Om: Last time, you…. (Stops himself.) Ishu: You wanted to mention Gauri’s accident, right?? It was my carelessness and I am still feeling guilty for that. (She is about to get up from the bed but Omkara holds her hand.)

Om: Don’t be in guilt for a long time. Whatever happened just let it go. Don’t strain yourself thinking about it. You have suffered a lot, Ishana. I have tortured you very much. You don’t have to torture yourself more.

Ishu: Why are you behaving like this, sir?? Last time, you didn’t even care for me. But now… Why?? What is the reason for your changes?? (Omkara doesn’t say anything.)

Om: What made you come here again?? Revenge?? (Ishana nods. He chuckles making her confused.) Seriously, Ishana?? You wanted to take revenge on me and you are telling it to me. Why are you so innocent?? (He pulls her cheek making her startle.) So cute!! (She rubs her cheek.)

Ishu: Hello!! I am not kidding. I am telling the truth. I seriously wanted to take revenge on you.

Om: So, you took a year to return here to take revenge on me??

Ishu: Haan!! I was…. making….. a proper plan…. on how to take revenge on you.

Om: (chuckles again) You are bad in lying, Ishana. Don’t try it again.

Ishu: Yes, I lied. Actually, I don’t want to come here again. I wanted to continue my life with my friends but one of your interviews made me come here again.

Om: (confused) Which interview??

Ishu: The one where you said that I am a gold digger and left you after finding a richer man than you. (Omkara looks at her shockingly.) Am I a gold digger, sir?? Have I ever asked for any money from you when I stayed here before?? I never ever asked for money from my friends. How would I ask from you?? (Omkara feels bad listening to her.)

Om: When did you watch the interview??

Ishu: The day we came here, that morning I saw the interview. (Omkara clenches his fist in anger which noticed by her. She is about to say something when the room door is knocked. They turn and see Ranveer there.)

Ranveer: Ishana, I need to talk to you. (Ishana nods and gets up from the bed.)

Ishu: (towards Omkara) I will be back in a while. (Omkara nods his head. Ishana goes towards Ranveer.)

Ranveer: (towards Omkara) I want to talk to you too after this. (Omkara nods.)

At the Lawn

IshRan are walking at the lawn.

Ishu: Where are RuMyaPri??

Ranveer: They want to see Mishti. So they went to SidLana’s house.

Ishu: What do you want to talk to me??

Ranveer: Ishana, don’t mistake me for dragging your past again. How Omkara behaved with you last time??

Ishu: Very rude, arrogant angry man, beast. You know his eyes are always filled with hatred whenever he looks at me.

Ranveer: Now??

Ishu: He is totally opposite. Caring, gentle….

Ishu: Maybe because someone tried to harm me before the incident. That’s why he felt that I was the shooter’s target.

Ranveer: But he should have pushed you instead of pulling you in his embrace.

Ishu: What are you trying to say??

Ranveer: I just want to ask don’t you find it weird?? A man who used to hate you before is lov…. I mean he is caring for you now.

Ishu: Yes. Even I have asked him but he never answers.

Ranveer: He won’t answer if you asked him in your way. You have to try a different way.

Ishu: Means??

Ishu: Yes. I used to cry under the shower and became unconscious. But when I woke up, I found myself on the bed or couch. Till now I don’t know how I ended up there.

Ranveer: You didn’t ask him??

Ishu: No. Last time, I was scared of him. I always hide behind Rudra whenever I saw him. (Ranveer smiles.) At first, he asked me to sleep on the floor without any pillow and blanket. Next morning, I found myself covered with a blanket and pillow under my head.

Ranveer: You didn’t know who did that??

Ishu: Maybe RuMyaPri as they are the one care for me since the first day.

Ranveer: Oh!! One last question. If you are given a chance to forgive one of Omkara’s deed towards you, which one it could be?? (Ishana looks at him in surprise.) I’m not asking you to forgive him but I just want to know if you are able to forgive him for any of his deeds.

Ishu: Maybe I can forgive him for everything he has done to me but I will never forgive him for playing with my motherhood. (Her eyes are brimmed with tears while saying that.) I will never forgive him for that!! (She leaves from there.)

Omkara’s Room

Ishana enters the room when she sees Omkara is on a call with someone angrily.

Om: How dare you to air the fake interview?? The interview was incomplete!! You have edited my statement!! Just for your so-called TRP, you are ruining an innocent girl’s name and character. Just see what I am going to do with your channel. (He turns and sees Ishana in tears. He ends the call.) Ishana?? When did you come??

Ishu: With whom you were speaking about the interview?? What did you mean by they have edited your statement??

Om: It’s nothing, Ishana. You know this media will do anything for their TRP. (Ranveer comes that time.) Ranveer, you said that you want to talk with me.

Ranveer: Ishana, Annika was looking for you. She asked you to come to her room. (Ishana nods and leaves from there. Ranveer makes sure Ishana has left and closed the door locking it.)

Ranveer: Do you love Ishana??

Om: Did Shivaay tell you??

Ranveer: He did but I already doubted it earlier itself.

Om: How?? I didn’t express it to anyone.

Ranveer: At least, you should have maintained your hatred after seeing her. But instead of that, you cared for her and you almost risked your life for her. I heard you love your brother, Shivaay Singh Oberoi a lot. Last night, when you saw someone wanted to shoot, why did you scream Ishana’s name?? Shivaay was there too. Why didn’t you scream his name and pull him towards yourself??

Om: Yes, I love her.

Ranveer: I know that and I felt like you have fallen for her when she was staying here before itself. Am I right??

Om: Is that hard to not to fall for her??

Ranveer: So it’s easy for you to fall for her??

Om: She made that easy. Even till now, I didn’t know how I have fallen for her. (Ranveer smiles recalling his conversation with NeilGau a few years before.)

*Flashback*

Ranveer: Always Ishana Ishana!! Give a break, yaar. Why both of you are loving her these much?? I have never seen friends like you.

Neil: Don’t ask like this, yaar.

Gautham: Because we don’t have an answer.

Neil: But one thing. (Looks at Gautham.)

NeilGau: We love her a lot!!! (Ranveer just shakes his head.)

*Flashback Ends*

Omkara sees Ranveer is smiling to himself.

Om: What happened?? Why are you smiling like this??

Ranveer: Nothing. A small flashback.

Om: So you just want to know if I love Ishana or not??

Ranveer: Not really. I wanted to confirm it. Actually, I need to talk to you a lot more.

Om: What??

Ranveer: Did you make Ishana pregnant??

Om: Yes. Everyone knows about it. Don’t you aware of it??

Ranveer: I know. I just want to confirm with you. So she was carrying your baby??

Om: Obviously!! Why are you asking this?? She carried my baby only.

Ranveer: Correct it, Omkara. Yours and Gauri’s baby.

Om: Yes. Mine and Gauri’s baby. (Ranveer laughs sarcastically.)

Ranveer: Really, Omkara?? (Omkara looks at him confusingly.) Maybe others are so stupid to believe you. But I am not that much stupid.

Om: What are you trying to say?? That the baby was not mine?? Don’t you dare to say that!! That baby belongs to me!! (Ranveer raises his eyebrows at him.) And Gauri!!

Ranveer: How about Mishti??

Om: She is also my baby.

Ranveer: But Ishana didn’t stay with you for almost one year.

Om: So what?? The baby is three months old. Ishana left from here almost one year back. Try to calculate and see.

Ranveer: May I know how did that happen?? As I know, both of you didn’t have an intimate relationship as you didn’t like her. Ishana too didn’t say anything like that happened between both of you. Then, how?? Did you do artificial insemination or IVF to her again??

Om: No. I didn’t do like that.

Ranveer: Maybe you spiked her drinks and molested her?? Because you did try to molest her, right?? (Omkara closes his eyes feeling hurt listening to Ranveer.)

Om: Just think whatever you want. Mishti is my baby and the baby which Ishana carried before was also mine!! Keep that in mind!! (Ranveer walks towards the door and unlock it. He turns to Omkara.)

Ranveer: You can’t run away from the truth for long, Omkara!! One day everyone will know it and that day will be very soon!! You keep that in mind!! (He leaves from there angrily while Omkara stood in shock.)
